Re: 2011 All Time Draft

Shawn, this is Dan Wydick. I was partnered with Dave Shovein for the All-Time Draft and he kept track of the standings I believe. If you need to have a look at them for your write up I'd bet he still has all that. I'm looking forward to reliving the rest of that draft. I remember in particular the d...

Re: The Contract League 2014 (MLBC) - SOLD OUT

Any predictions as to what the winning MoY score will be. Last year it was a robust 82 points. I don't have much of a history for this event. What have been the winning ROY scores for the 30 man roster format? But, I think it could be 122.0 this year The first year this format was introduced, the w...

Re: The Contract League 2014 (MLBC) - SOLD OUT

Truly, I think a 'medium' team would have the only chance of winning both first place and MOY. Agreed. The problem with that is they have a much worse chance of a top 3 finish then the high teams and a much worse chance of MoY then the low teams. In my opinion, anyways For a while there last year, ...

Re: The Contract League 2014 (MLBC) - SOLD OUT

If a high money team scores 150 league points, they win the MOY money as well. Hamilton makes this dream possible for a big money franchise. It's called the Sweep Rule I didn't know this but I think its essentially impossible. Some team (probably multiple teams) would sure make a push in any catego...

So, as far as Fast Billy there ain't no way in hell you or any other $ team is taking him in the 1st rd. You would love it if one of the other big boys did b/c it would kill 2 birds w/ 1 stone - handicap the high roller & screw a MOY tm goin for speed. PS - it makes perfect sense for EITHER a big m...

KJ Duke wrote:Historically it has been close to even, averaging 4 x 6 x 5.
Last draft was the most extreme at 5 x 2 x 8.

This draft I will predict 4 x 3 x 8. Great odds at the top, long odds at the bottom.
Longer odds for some of us then others with this field.

Re: The Contract League 2014 (MLBC) - SOLD OUT

There is a simplicity in just spending your way to an All-Star team. you mean like Miggy available @ 10  The worst is the high money teams that start off with trout/scherzer/medlen or something so you don't how they will ultimately end up until later. To me, this is a very tough draft to b...

Re: The Contract League 2014 (MLBC) - SOLD OUT

I think everyone should declare whether they plan to be a high team, a low team or somewhere in the middle. You guys go first. Good luck with that. I see a major logjam at the low end. if you had to guess, what is the breakdown (i know you will be honest) I'm sure you are probably talking...

Re: Hall Of Fame Balloting: Is It About Players or Writers?

And so are Joe Jackson's and so are Pete Rose. And how do you decide who did and who didn't? Exactly why Pete should be in the HOF. He had a gambling problem but did nothing to cheat the game. That's better than being a racist or a wife-beater, or Barry Bonds. Disclosure - I never liked Rose when h...

Re: Hall Of Fame Balloting: Is It About Players or Writers?

I'm fine keeping the steroid users out just like I'm fine keeping Rose out. There needs to be consequences for this type of behavior. The sad thing is guys like Bonds, Clemens and Rose get in on the first ballot had they simply abided by the rules of the game. They did this to themselves and I have...

Re: Grade my draft...

For future reference, it's helpful to include the rounds you selected players so that everyone can get a better sense of the flow of your draft and who else may have been available at your picks. Also, you should have mentioned that this was a 12 teamer from the start so that you didn't give us all ...

Re: presenting your overall auction champ team

Hi G@mblor. I thought you grabed some great values in this auction, especially with Jennings,Carlos Lee, Scherzer,Iannetta and Alvarez. Jennings is a steal at $18 in any format. He cost me $26 in a 13 team AL-only league but has been going close to that price even in mixed auctions.Carlos Lee may be...

Not to belabor the point, however, I’ll debate the “2012 usefulness” of harper with anyone. Get all of your supporting documentation ready. Here’s mine and it’s factual: He’s only 19 years old. In the history of MLB, how many 19 year old hitters have had successful seasons in the bigs? Despite bein...

NFBC Auction Championship This was our first time ever competing in a 15 team mixed Auction, but I think that we actually fared pretty well here. Again, I would love to hear thoughts and opinions on this team! C – Chris Iannetta ($2), Jason Castro ($1) 1B – Adam Dunn ($12) 2B – Dustin Pedroia ($30) ...

Team 14 in the Tigers jerseys in league 2. Tom Amoroso and Dan Wydick (myself). I'm the more handsome one which I assume will make it obvious. :) Chicago was great fun again and I agree that it was extremely well run. Re: NFBC rookie main event draft

In my opinion, the problem with your team is not with the players selected but with your strategy. You took a pitcher in 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11. I think that this was overkill and you may have been better served pushing back a couple of pitchers and shoring up things offensively. With that said, you did...

Re: Critique my Auction Championship team

Appreciate the compliments. Staying patient was our main focus but it certainly wasn't easy. I don't think we had our first pitcher until over 100 picks into the draft, which was nervewracking. We also ended up with several players we had no intention of taking, especially early on. Had a blast thou...
