Re: OFFICIAL NFBC STATEMENT ABOUT START OF SEASON

I would very much like to play out the draft champion leagues that were already drafted regardless of who shows up for spring training or how many games are played.

Re: Is It Time To Discuss IP Minimums Going Forward?

Replace wins with innings pitched and remove the IP minimum. I agree. Much better idea than adding QS for a variety of reasons. Wouldn't this just bring back the 'gamers' who punted W's and K's? Instead of punting W's, they'd just punt INN. Which is why we have the minimum innings. It especially wo...

Re: Is It Time To Discuss IP Minimums Going Forward?

Still really easy to 1000 IP. I am getting 1400+ innings in all my draft champions leagues this year. I don't think the minimum needs to change.

If a change is made, this would get my vote.

Re: Next Year is Coming Fast

EDIT- I've received several communications about Ohtani. The best suggestion I've heard in the actual use of Ohtani in the NFBC would be this.... Ohtani would have a star or (2) after his name in drafting to designate him as a two way player. Once drafted, his owner can then use him as a Pitcher (t...

Draft Champions Overall Standings Issues

Point totals for Draft Champions Overall Standing categories are incorrect.

Also the total number of teams is incorrect. Right now there are 3450 total teams listed. Should be 3495 if the owned % page is correct (233 leagues).

Yandy Diaz - Position Eligibility

Shouldn't Yandy Diaz start the season with just DH eligibility? He is listed at 3B on the Eligibility list. He had 14-16 games at DH depending on how you count the games on 8/23 and 8/28. He had just 9 games at 1B and 3B last season. The rule I am referencing is pasted below for convenience. I haven...

It looks like the Royals will be signing Billy Hamilton.

Whew! That has to be a relief for them. Alcides Escobar has been safely replaced.
 This is so true. I thought that this would be a likely landing spot for Billy Hamilton.

Re: 2019 ADP -when?

Greg,

For every time a player is undrafted it is currently assigning him the value of 450 + 1 which might make sense if all our drafts were 30 round 15 team drafts.

Re: Ohtani 2019

Thanks for the ruling, Greg.

As I continue my prep for 2019, I was wondering what position SP/1B Brendan McKay of the Rays will be initially eligible next season and how he will be handled. He might be one more year a way but I do think a mid-season call-up is a possibility.

Re: Ohtani 2019

That is unfortunate news. However the question still needs to be addressed. He may not even get TJS and just be exclusively play offense next year. If he does get TJS, maybe he only needs six month recovery typical for position players and he spends next season exclusively on offense. While this is ...

Ohtani 2019

I am curious to know if any thought has been given to how Shohei Ohtani will be dealt with next season. Is he going to be pitcher only again? I personally don't see why he can't be both but not at the same time. You can slot him in as your utility player (but he will not generate pitching stats for ...

Re: Week 4 Main Event Adds

Is there a one click way that we could see Main Event bids as they were posted last year? If not, isn't ease of information as important as the information itself? I agree. Being able to quickly scroll through the whole list and notice trends/oddities/outliers is much harder now having to click twi...

Re: Let's Compile The Latest Updates In This Thread

The update that was just done to mix white background lines with grey ones in the standings/lineup page is much harder to read. Just some feedback. I do not like it at all. I agree. Highlights the white lines and de-emphasizes the dark gray. This look might work but the contrast between white and d...

Re: NFBC Random Slot Generator BLOWS

I believe this has a binomial distribution solution. Binomial(n=number of trials, k=number of successes, p=probability of success) In Deadheadz' case, not getting one of his top two choices in 9 tries equals a very reasonable 27.6% chance of occurring. Binomial(n=9,k=0,p=2/15). However in Gekko's ca...

Re: quality starts VS wins

Wins should just be replaced by total innings pitched if it is decided that a change is needed. That is the best predictor for # of wins anyway, while still allowing relievers to contribute to the category as well (as opposed to QS).

If you offer an 8-hour the 4-hour will continue to suffer because there will be more novices in the 8-hours, thus the hardcore guys will play the 8's solely to avoid the toughest top-to-bottom leagues. I'd like to see a uniform offering for the national contest rather than the unbalanced leagues th...

Re: How About A $100,000 Grand Prize In The NFBC Cutline?

I have thought about this for awhile and I probably would not play next year if the league prize was taken away. I was only going to run 1 team again anyways. I already feel that the current Cutline payout format is a bad "investment." I played it because I really wanted to try out the format. It so...

Alex Avila the highest common denominator! Ha. Wow. Thanks for the list! I know, I found that oddly coincidental at first. I picked him up at the 2nd FA period (dropped J. Castro) for $2 and he was in my lineup 10 out 12 weeks which was higher than I realized. I am only running 3 catchers on my tea...
