Sounds like some have a real good knowledge of the area and the tracks. I will yeild to subject matter experts and tag along. As mentioned earlier, probably will not win much money (I am going to win all of mine next October when Greg gives me that really big check ;) ) but the track will probably b...

Certainly I believe the levels of knowledge and committment would be the same in all three. As we "said" last year, anyone putting down $650, or $1,250, or $5,000 is very serious about their fantasy baseball. The only advantage I would see out of Chicago or New York is you may get a higher level of ...

Well, OK. Darn.
For the group, whom do you think will have the greatest impact, McPherson or Atkins?

It might have been a career year, but I am thinking he is the real deal. If the Brewers wanted to trade him to Atlanta, I will go ask Bobby Cox if he would part with Horatio AND Brian Jordan!

But would they be able to afford him? Would he want to stay (i.e. no closer, Branyan at 3B....ech!)?

There are just across the border in Indiana. Harrah's to be specific. However, I am told it would take about an hour to get there from the O'Hare area.

Guys (and girls if any), I am sick of what MLBPA and the vile henchmen that spent $50m in blood money to get the rights to public domain have done. I am sure the players needed it expecially since they earn such low wages to play a game that most of us would play for free. There is not much I can do...

I can answer the David Wright question for last years Las Vegas League #4. He was not drafted and I picked him up from the free agent pool for $250. This might be a bit deceiving as at the time I was at or near the top of the dollars still available for FAAB. Also, I am not sure how much help knowin...

No, no, no...you all missed the best solution of all. Take a piece of several of the suggestions and add a little spin. Pick the drafts positions live THREE days before the actual draft, owners required to be in attendance (Honey, I HAVE to go early...it is the RULES!). The have Greg and/or Tom writ...

Determining a draft day plan.
In general, in the 17 years I have participated in leagues with various skill levels (from frat level to leagues dominated with people in the sports reporting media), I have been very heavy hitting up front, pitching in the middle, and fill-in/prospects/gambles late. No big surprise as this is a fai...

KP Experts League 2 Mock Draft Results
Very interesting. So Ron Shandler (love the book) picked Crawford, Renteria, Rollins and Lopez in the first four rounds. Should I predict a 2B, a 1B, a 3B, a CM, a OF, a SP, and a CL in the next six rounds? Maybe not in that order...

Personally, I cannot see this being treated the with the same marketing profile as the "luxury box/new stadium" mentality. If they jack up the licensing too much, they will kill the average user. The average user is what has generated the boom. Kill them off, kill the boom. Bad investment. I think t...

One person or two people, it all depends on preparation. If you and a partner are both digging in magazines (great though they may be) in round 22 trying to find an eligable third sacker, you will still be behind. Do your research and come in with your cheat sheets (the fewer the better...my only pr...

Brad Lidge picked before Mariano? I agree but it surprises me a bit, even if Mariano was the third closer taken. Passing of a torch in closer-land maybe?

Draft Position, Does It Matter??
I can only speak for Las Vegas League #4. The winner drafted in one of the dead positions according to what I have heard from convential wisdom. CC's Desparados (who finished third overall I believe) drafted 10th. Team Shairson drafted 9th and finished second in our league. Rounding out the top thre...

Who Is Coming To The 2005 NFBC And Where?
Thanks, Greg! I was in Vegas last year (League 4)and had a blast. The whole season was fun even though the warm comfortable arms of mediocrity wrapped themselves all around my team (finished 79th overall). I feel sure the "Edwards Kings" will rise again!

In the twenty years I have been doing fantasy baseball (Gee, tell me how you used to do it when YOU were young, Grampa! ), the draft takes the most work and is the most fun. After that (yes, you have to manage the waiver wires) it is the luck of the turned ankle or two that will separate ...

I guess that goes to show you every draft was a bit different. Most comments I heard were happy to have a couple of extra hours to enjoy Vegas. Your point about keeping the minute, but starting the clock after the name is posted is OK by me. Even those that ran out of time (very seldom) and had to w...

Draft Recap--Best/Late Worst/Early Pick
Best pick either Giambi (50th pick and fifth in the fourth round) or Brian Roberts (281st pick or 11th in the 19th round). Worst is Tim Worrell (341st pick or fifth in the 24th round) while Speier, Felix Rodriguez and a ton of other MR with better chance at closing at some time in the future were av...

Tom, Not sure what to do about the noise. The only thing I can recommend is a common room for refreshments/breaks and then have the draft in individual, smaller sized conference rooms. That would cut down on the noise/confusion where each draft facilitator is shouting out names (including some of my...
