Re: NFBC Blurbs

I feel that the Message Boards have sorta been 'deserted' so I'll piggy back new posts in this thread.... The All-Star break nears meaning we are just about half way through this year. Congrats to those with good teams and condolensces to those who don't. Fantasy baseball has changed a bit over the ...

Re: NFBC Blurbs

Look at this latest blurb on Nolan Jones.... 'Nolan Jones went 4-for-4 with a homer and stolen base in an 8-6 loss to the Reds on Tuesday. Nolan Jones has emerged as a viable starting outfielder in fantasy baseball, and we are left wondering why he didn't break camp with the team. The 25-year-old is...

NFBC Blurbs

Allow me to vent. Well, you have no choice anyway, I'm going to vent. I play NFBC Fantasy. I am among a group that are the best fantasy baseball players in the world. Even had success a time or two. Why can't we have updates that fit our elite group? To tell the truth, I am sick to death of rotoblur...

Re: Draft Thoughts

Let me just add one more thing since I'm watching Ke'Bryan Hayes play right now.... I get criticized for criticizing players taking base on balls. That's ok with me. I'm a fantasy player. I know how walks hurt offensive teams and are relished by the press and sabermetric folks. Watching Hayes tonigh...

Draft Thoughts

During drafting season, we see players in another light. We look at our favorite yearly stats. We visualize how they've looked over the past year and longer. We rank them accordingly. Let's talk about a few of those players. Ke'Bryan Hayes.... My friend thinks he is getting a 'jump' on his competiti...

Slumps

I'm having the worst fantasy week of the year so far. We all have them. Some days our hitters collude to add zippo to our categories and our pitchers give us the middle finger as they get beat up. At least, that is what we imagine.... :D All slumps are destined to end. Just like when our teams are g...

Re: April

I know it's early but congrats on your fantastic start in DC! Good luck the rest of the way! Thank you, Sir! DCis a different animal. Attrition is the name of the game. So far, I have had the fortune of good health and players hitting and pitching a bit over their heads. It sure is better than the ...

I was highly criticized by NFBC players in my stance on Juan Soto. I told anybody that would listen that Soto is not getting better as a young player. Better suited as a third round player, not first round. of course, who listens to me when the OBP community touts him no matter what. Although scribe...

Re: Fantasy Brothers

It's funny, Al, I make some some questions up for friends to answer. And also answer them myself. One of the questions is.... Annually, about 50 percent of first rounders fall from the first round the following year, which players will fall this year to another round in 2024? One of my answers was J...

What We Don't Know

So here I am in a one hour Draft Championship and in the 16th round trying to determine what would be the next pick. I check all the category boxes. Check. I check Pitchers. Check. I check positionality among offensive players check. And then it occurs to me. It occurs to me that I don't know shit. ...

No, this isn't a post about you guys. Even though we are all brothers in this hobby. And if you're reading this, it means you are a great player in the best contest in fantasy baseball. After all, if you're not a great player, why the Hell would you be in the NFBC? And if you aren't a great player, ...

Finding An Angle

We listen to podcasts. We look at articles. We try to glean any information that will make us better drafters. Personally, I don't listen to many podcasts. Most tend to stray away from the subject. They waste time talking about opinions of other things rather than fantasy baseball. They think of thi...

Winning A Draft

Long time no see. I'm fine and hope you all are the same. I happened to hear part of a broadcast on my satelite radio. This fella was talking about how he killed a draft. Killed it. Ugh. He told his listeners that he started his draft with the current best player in baseball. Seriously? I don't even...

RIP Kent Stermon

Kent Stermon took his own life. I met Kent Stermon after my first year in the NFBC. Kent was a one of a kind fella. He was brutally honest. He was full of life. And you knew that if you were a friend of Kent's, that he would do anything in the world for you. He enjoyed baseball and especially the NF...

I am a fan of the Gladiator format. It lets me get the drafting itch scratched and adds zero stress for the season.
All good.
I am definitely in the minority there. It is wildly popular.
Just not my cup of tea.

Re: Shits and Giggles

After being laughed at by John Pausma, I have to put this statement on record for all to see.

I believe this coming year will be the first time EVER that a Closer is drafted before a Starter in a Main Event.

Just want to be on record, be it for Nostradamas sake or be it for my stupidity.....

Re: Shits and Giggles

One thing to note... I haven't drafted a DC in a month and just got into one yesterday. WOW! 'The Gladiator' has really influenced the default setting. Maybe we should have a default separate for that contest? Or maybe not. I've always been a fan of as little default as possible forcing each drafter...

Being an NFBC participant is hard. 1. We all have lives. Real and fantasy. Maintaining a balance between the two is difficult sometimes. 2. Time. We only have so much. Both in real and fantasy life. Team must be picked carefully. 3. Money. Like time, we only have so much. And again, teams must be pi...

Re: Havin Fun With 2023 ADP

I just drafted Juan Soto with the 11th pick. I think last year was just an off year for the slugger. We will probably find out some excuse of why he had such a bad year in the coming days, I just hope it wasn't a lingering injury he enduring. I love reading you pieces, keep up the good work. Perfec...

ROUND 1 ADP 1-15 Those who know me already know what I am going to say. I said it last year (probably too much) and the same goes for this year... I was incredulous last year when Soto was taken near the top of drafts. Juan Soto is not a first round choice. What Juan Soto IS is an incredible basebal...

ROUND 2 ADP 16-30 We have reached the top two rounds. Instead of being the hardest of all rounds, these two rounds each have a player that easily does not belong. One word......HYPE. Hype is the reason. If we look at what a player has done more than what a player CAN do, it will change our drafting ...

ROUND 3 ADP 31-45 I'm calling it. This is the year. I will use no statistics for this guy. He has been impeccable over a long career. Cooperstown awaits. He has been either a first round or second round pick for umpteen years. And I have drafted him a lot during that time. I'm talking about Max Sche...

Re: Havin Fun With 2023 ADP

ROUND 4 ADP 46-60 Within the space of three months, Starling Marte stole 39 bases. An owners dream. He won some leagues for his owners in 2021. Last year, he stole 18 bases and had 16 HR. It is totally understandable why he has a fourth round ADP. Totally. Marte is a speed guy. Not a judy. A speed g...
