Re: Small fixes

It would be nice, in the cutline anyway, that when you click on stats for yesterday, it actually showed the points earned for yesterday not the period so far. Not a big fix I'm sure.

The team anyone could have had

I just went through my draft results, and the first week of waiver wire adds, and came up with a list of pitchers that were either available, or went in the last couple rounds. Barry Zito (27th round) Edwin Jackson (27th round) Jeff Niemann Nick Blackburn Ross Ohlendorf Jarrod Washburn Joel Pineiro ...

New Players

How long does it usually take for a player to be added to the FA List?

I'm looking for Armando Gabino but can't seem to find him (may be a blessing in disguise).

Learning from our mistakes

Originally posted by TTBoy: In years past, I have always successfully "chased saves" by picking up CLIW's. All-Star Stuff

I know this is off topic, but I thought I saw a comet shoot out of Busch Stadium. Didn't we already have a debacle with glowing pucks a few years back?

Learning from our mistakes

While none of us can have our draft over again, it's worth noting that now is the time for some more specific changes in our approach on the remainder of the year. I love chasing wins and Ks, and just as it was said earlier in the post it's a bit like harmless gambling. However, if at this stage of ...

So then, it could be argued that in the second half of the season maybe there should be no roster spots filled with prospects if you're trying to make a charge. If you're trying to make a run at some pitching stats, now might be a time to drop the Sniders' and Laportas' and pick up some decent pitch...

Michael Jackson a Step Back !

You hit it square on, I couldn't agree more.

Even though I do not know you, I enjoy reading your writing, and laughing at dialogue baseball fans truly enjoy. However, a loss of three friends is something that no words can remedy.

All the best to you and their families.

I took Rollins...so I know all about how people are feeling right now. As far as consistency, Rollins was the smart choice, but it seems like every smart choice is paired with dumb luck lately. Another strategy with which someone might be willing to adopt, would be that of punting. If you're spendin...

I thought that since the All-Star break is on the way, and the midpoint of the season has passed, that maybe now is the time for reflection. Surely at the end of every year everyone who has not placed as high as they wished says "If only I hadn't stuck with this, or changed this". Let's pretend this...

Week 12 Satellite League FAAB Bids

Yeah, they are valuable no question, but for his tenure as the closer, I don't think anyone can justify using over 20% of their yearly budget on him. I looked at the bids because in my 15 team league he went for $117, the next bid was $46, and I had a bid of $35. For a guy who has two other guys loo...

Week 12 Satellite League FAAB Bids

I know a lot of us are chasing saves, but the bidding this week for Jason Frasor really has thrown me. I must have missed the memo that Downs had a broken toe and not a spraign, and that neither Accardo or Ryan were interested in a little extra work. Bids of $60 to even $80 might have been ok, but 4...

What Were The Real Benefits Of Steroids?

I can only think of two reasons as to the discrepancy between pitcher and hitter success via steroids. For a pitcher, no matter the power, it's all about control and accuracy. It could almost be a bit of a drawback being a pitcher on steroids, as your new velocity has pitches breaking at different t...

Player Rankings...

While it's nice that we can sort by ownership, player performance over certain timeframes and periods is much more relevant. If the option to sort by period doesn't work, as far as I'm concerned that's incredibly misleading and the option should be removed. This is my first year here, and while the ...

Player Rankings...

I don't get how players are ranked in our FA pool, but it must certainly be close to random assignment. There are countless instances - for example Willie Bloomquist who is 0/3 during period 6, is ranked higher than Jeff Larish who is 3/6 3R, 2HR, 2RBI during this same period. Can someone tell me ho...

If there was one guy who I think would be linked to this "Manny being Barry" thing, I'd think it would be Ortiz. I think he's suspect for sure, especially with a few big HR seasons alongside Manny. A 54 HR season is suspect enough, but add in the fact he's been horrible since Manny's departure, it s...

The Scott Downs lottery

I like Frasor, and he's pitched well this season -average last year. I don't mind a guy like him on my roster either, considering the Jays are so depleted in pitching he might even vulture a few wins.

The Scott Downs lottery

BJ Ryan is now on the DL.

For those who grabbed Downs:

Cito Gaston says "more than likely" Downs will be their interim closer.
