Re: Somewhat political post, non baseball

You can talk about having your head in the sand all you want, but the simple fact of the matter is that it is inarguable that we are better off economically today than we were in 2008, Are we perfect? No. Not even remotely close. But we have come a long way back from a big hole created by previous l...

Re: Somewhat political post, non baseball

Why is this even a discussion? This election isn't about Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. This election is about facts. We have 1 political party that royally screwed up the economy and left us with 2008, and another political party that has partially rescued us from that period and has us on the pa...

Re: Ramblings...

I certainly get that. It's just tough to justify losing year after year in annual, and only at this level I might add, and yet consistently winning year after year in daily. I'm able to pay for NFBC because of daily results. It's also frustrating when you lose year after year for the very same reaso...

Re: Ramblings...

In regards to Peraza, I hold the magic touch. I disagree totally that he is coming up in September. He isn't coming up at all, and I implied this with a much earlier response to something you posted I believe back in April. Every year, there are 1 or 2 rookies I draft, and they are drafted on every ...

Re: 2015 NFBC Post-Season Hold 'Em Contest Rules

I personally didn't get to see last years playoffs as I was out of town on vacation for most of it. Knowing Fanduels scoring, it surprises me that more pitchers didn't score better than just Madison Bumgarner. I get that multipliers can and will change the overall points, but a decent outing from an...

Re: 2015 NFBC Post-Season Hold 'Em Contest Rules

If you haven't already done so, can you run some numbers based on previous playoffs of what the scores would like like in this format. On the surface it seems good, but the first thing that jumped out at me was because of the smaller roster and the number of pitchers here, pitching would far outscor...

Re: 2015 NFBC Post-Season Hold 'Em Contest Rules

Sounds like you need 2 sets of rules. 1 for the cut line and 1 for the playoffs. If that's what you are suggesting, I agree. For the playoffs, I don't think you need to subtract .25 for hits, walks, and HBP, if you go with the standard fan duel pitcher scoring to keep that aspect simple. You do need...

Re: 2015 NFBC Post-Season Hold 'Em Contest Rules

I don't know how you can do a true test of scoring without locking down what the line-up slots will be first. It needs to be determined how many of each position will be required, to truly determine whether you have a potential optimal balance between hitting and pitching points. I mean a typical fa...

Re: 2015 NFBC Post-Season Hold 'Em Contest Rules

This is why I suggested we lock down the roster size piece of this first. I happen to like the Fanduel scoring and would be in favor of using that or something very similar, as its extremely easy for someone to understand, but yet a new element is added with your contest with the round multipliers. ...

Re: 2015 NFBC Post-Season Hold 'Em Contest Rules

Greg: Forgetting scoring for the moment and just focusing on roster size, what do you think of this concept? In an attempt to keep the existing NFBC structure for most leagues that you run, lets have a 30 man roster which includes 7 bench spots to start with. Since 10 teams make the playoffs, everyo...

Re: 2015 NFBC Post-Season Hold 'Em Contest Rules

I think you need a simpler scoring system, and 1 that more represents what is currently used in the daily games. I personally prefer the fan duel scoring to draft kings as its just cleaner and easier to understand, although I don't know that you need to mimic either one of them 100%. Just the fact t...

Re: Why season long trumps DFS in baseball

I certainly get the frustration with multiple entries and I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way as that isn't my intent at all, but I think there are key things with multiple entries, which are not taken in to consideration. Before I mention those, I should reiterate that I am against multip...

Re: Why season long trumps DFS in baseball

There is certainly a place for both DFS and season long, and both require a lot of time to be good at them. In season long you obviously have draft preparation and FAAB amongst other things, but for daily, it can take as much time, day in and day out, just trying to come up with the perfect scenario...

Re: Let's revisit Friday lineup changes for P

I guess I'm just one of the unluckier owners in this contest. I have been playing NFBC for 10 years, and I don't recall ever having healthy bodies on my bench I could swap in for a player who went on the DL midweek. I just lost Ellsbury on a bunch of teams and hitter changes are valid on Friday, but...

Re: Crystal Ball for One Player

This might seem odd, but I seem to be the guy every year who drafts a minor league player that never gets called up, while everyone else seems to get the minor league player that makes a huge impact. Last year it was Archie Bradley for me. As a result, I would love to know if Jose Peraza is going to...

Re: How Does DFS Affect Your Season-Long Participation?

Thanks 76er fan. I've been at it for 2 years now and have actually been good at it. (Knock on wood) I can say its all about the time you put in to it. At least in my opinion. As for the injury factor in the daily game, it can certainly impact you there, but that is 1 game and sometimes 1 contest, de...

Re: How Does DFS Affect Your Season-Long Participation?

This might not be directly related, but I play both DFS and numerous NFBC leagues as I'm sure many others on these boards do. Speaking strictly from a DFS perspective, you certainly don't have to deal with the injuries. It's really tough to spend $1200-$1600, or sometimes more, on a team, and feel a...

Re: Top 5 #6: Things I would do as New Commissioner

Man I hate the DH as well and wish they would do away with it. I heard a suggestion on the radio the other day that seemed brilliant to me and its very much along the lines of what you suggested here. The rosters are expanded to 27 players from 25, and 2 players are inactive every game, but instead ...

There simply is no experience like this for an avid fantasy baseball player.

I second everything that has been stated. Just make the decision and go. It's well worth it.

Re: How Does DFS Affect Your Season-Long Participation?

I play both DFS and yearly leagues and like most players I play them both for different reasons. As of now, I intend to keep playing both. Could there be a time when I resort to 1 over the other? Sure, but other factors would be in play causing me to do so, and if I’m being totally honest, DFS would...

I don't post often, but I was surprised no one commented on this one. Joe Saunders said Sunday that he's currently dealing with the "dead arm" phase of spring training. The veteran southpaw still feels confident, noting that the Rangers know full well what he's capable of. He's currently battling wi...

Re: Live Scoring - Stats Presentation

I think the old version is easier to read than the new version, but the new version is significantly faster. In my opinion, we only need the information pertaining to our scoring categories. If we could have what we had last year, but as fast as the new version, and also add in that we are able to s...
