Re: MLB Wildcard

Let's say MLB decides to go best of 3. How do split home/away? 1-1-1? That's going to stretch out your overall timetable for the playoffs. Best record gets 2-1? 1-2? Probably have to go gm1 to dog and DH day to favorite, so deciding game always on favorite's turf. I like the current system as it al...

Re: Minor fixes

Per cent owned has always been an enigma to me. I agree that we were advised that per cent owned is based on the type of league. So main event leagues should reflect main event leagues and some others ? As an example, in one of my main events, it says Will Middlebrooks is owned in 64.8% of leagues....

Re: Box scores

Bill James came up with it at least twenty years ago. It's a way to quantify in a single number how well a starting pitcher does. Baseball Reference has been doing that for a few years on their home page.

Box scores

For those of you who use the MLB At Bat app, this year they added the starting pitchers game scores in the box scores. Great idea.

They should also count the strikes that are swung-and-missed versus just a total ball-strike count.

I pay the full subscription; I forget if the app itself for box scores is free or not.

Lester has absolutely nothing, looks like the Cubs signed the Lester of a couple years ago. Not only that, the dude is a head case...and only for $155 MIL? In 10 innings this year he's walked two and struck out 10, with a BABIP of .486. Re: FA Bids tonight

The deadline had passed for FAAB bids when I posted. Since these guys do their homework they'll see his name in the STATS posts today so I'm not sure how that's spilling the beans the way you suggest is like mentioning an undrafted player in a DC chat room. I notice you don't seem to have a problem...

Re: FA Bids tonight

Someone also posted that Navarro could be traded to Cleveland from Toronto too today or yesturday. It's a good thought. Don't think it made Navarro go for 300 today or anything anyway. The Navarro situation in Toronto is a known issue, at least it should be to anyone who did their homework over the...

Re: FA Bids tonight

. Was I the only guy to bid on Mariners RP Carson Smith? Speculative for certain but with Rodney having a bad day and Smith already near the top of the strikeout leaderboard for free agents I thought I throw a few bucks at him. . Let others do their own due diligence; not sure why you need to bring...

Re: Accounting Issue/Question

I had the same questions/points last year. The accounting works a little differently for daily versus NFBC. Daily does net because there are so many entry points to account for. If your total cost throughout a season is 100k and you win 110k, then you're taxed on 10k. A full season league like NFBC ...

A 8-10 WAR player like Trout means you influence an extra win about once every two or three weeks. Wouldn't have been a factor for the Angels.

Overvalued - Jose Altuve. If you're taking him as a Top 15-20 pick he needs to duplicate his production from last season. ???? By your own valuation system he was the best fantasy player last year. Do you expect him to do that again? If so then his ADP is justified. I don't which is why I don't lik...

Re: Greg & Shawn Competing In LABR AL & NL Auctions

Every year I look at the results of draft and I wonder what Lawr Michaels has been smoking. $40 for Kershaw when Scherzer, next highest sp, went for 32 is flat out just bad strategy. How is this a bad strategy? Kershaw beat Scherzer in 3 of 4 categories and had a higher strikeout rate. Scherzer's m...

Re: Here's The Plan For Las Vegas Live Drafts/Auctions

Greg - this may be a little too early to ask, but what would be the probability of having power strips available for laptops on the first weekend? The rules clearly state we don't provide power. It's for a couple of reasons, but mainly because every room doesn't have access to power in every area. ...

I was ambivalent about Top3/4 in the Diamond Auction as well. I chose Top 3 because we already had 15 owners in place, but getting new ownership in the future could be tough if Top 3 is used.

Good to see the uptick in participation. Does the overall prizes for the Auction Championship stay as-is, or will this increase versus last year?
