Re: I've Got The 4th Pick; Who Should I Take?

Think I'd go Kemp. If he is healthy, he easily could hit 30-35 homers, score and drive-in 100 runs, hit for a .300+ average and also steal 20+ bases. His ceiling is even higher. Also, he'll be playing with AGon, Hanley, Crawford (maybe) and whoever else the very rich Dodgers acquire. You have to thi...

Re: Who Would You Pick No. 1 Overall Right Now?

Greg: Tough choice, but I went with Braun for my vote. I think Trout is going to be great, but it is tough to see him matching or exceeding his performance from last year. Possible - yes; likely - not sure. Even if Trout's upside may be the highest, Braun and Miggy have been doing it year after year...

Looks like Allen Craig went 66th in the first draft and 21st in the second draft. Now that is a disparity!

Re: Eliminating 600 Players, He Could Be the Best Pitcher of

Great post. Still, you never know what you may find at the end of a draft. I did three slow drafts last year and got lucky with some pitchers. I got Steve Cishek in the 49th in one league, Fernando Rodney at 44 and 45 in two leagues, and Ross Detwiler at 48 in another league. I can't claim any parti...

Re: Billy Hamilton: A Star In The Making?

He could steal bases in numbers we haven't seen since the days of Ricky Henderson, Tim Raines and Vince Coleman. For 2013, however, I have my doubts about Dusty letting him play with the big boys, running a rookie out there every day or at least regularly, and giving him the green light on the bases...

Re: Victor Martinez

This is helpful. I was wondering if V-Mart was going to be catcher-eligible but, after reviewing the rules, I had concluded (incorrectly) that he was not catcher eligible. FYI, I relied on the following rule: "If a player did not appear in 20 games at any position, he qualifies at the one position h...

Re: A $ 0.69 an Hour Job? I'LL TAKE IT!!!

Excellent post, Dan. Here's another way to look at things. I did four NFBC leagues this year. I won runner-up money in two of the leagues and just missed a pay-out in a third league. Overall, I wound up down a few hundred dollars. Under your work analogy, you could say that I was paid perhaps a nega...

Re: Who Wants To Compete In The First NFBC Slow Drafts?

Greg - I'm very interested in participating in at least one of the early slow drafts but have a question about the timing. When will you know the dates for the first few slow drafts? The reason I ask is that I'm traveling the week of Thanksgiving; others may be in the same boat. If the first slow d...

Tie-Breakers

What is the tie-breaker if two teams finish with the same number of points? If no tie-breaker, what happens - do they just split the prize money for 1st and 2nd place, or 2nd and 3rd place? Thanks.

Tie-Breakers?

Quick question - In one of my leagues, I have 102.5 points and am listed in second place. The first place team also has 102.5 points. Is there some type of tie-breaker in effect? If not, what happens if we finish in a tie? Do we split the 1st and 2nd place money? Thanks.

Ridiculous Injury

Rotoworld is reporting that Jonathan Lucroy hurt his hand when his wife shifted a suitcase under their hotel room bed when he was reaching under the bed for a sock. Apparently he couldn't even swing a bat tonight, so he may be out for some time. He was having a great season, and was a great plus on ...

Re: OUR PLAYERS

Funny, but my four teams vary quite a bit in terms of my early round picks. I did get Votto in two drafts (at 11) and Pedroia in two drafts in the second round, but otherwise lots of variation. I did seem to gravitate to certain players in later rounds, usually viewing them as bargains. Some worked ...

Re: $$$ Scott Downs $$$

I bid $42. Not really sure why. If no one goes overboard, I have a shot. If someone does go overboard, they can have him. Something tells me I won't get him. He scares me a little, though, so I decided to be a little cautious.

Re: FAAB Week 4!

Put in four conditional bids to replace one of my bench players. Went after, in order, Downs (but not a crazy high bid), Parra, Arroyo (two decent starts this week), and Smyly. I may not get any as none of my bids are all that high.

Re: Implosion in Beantown- Aceves melts down

Picked up Andrew Bailey for $5 on Week 3 FAAB. :D Was not sure about tying up roster spot for 2+ months, but I am light on saves and not prepared to spend $200 on the closer du jour. Of course, if he is out well past the all-star break and/or doesn't get closer's job back, it will have been a dumb m...

Scoring error?

I have Jeter on three of my four teams and was thrilled with his 9th inning HR to go 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 1 HR and 1 RBI. When I checked live scoring (several times), Jeter's last AB is not reflected. There may be other errors. I assume the stats get verified and corrected if inaccurate, but I am ne...

Re: FAAB Bidding Week 2!

I put in bids on Castilla and Romo but for well less than $100. I guess I will get neither, but I think that is a better outcome than blowing too much of my FAAB money on an unclear closer situation. I'd really like to get Schaffer but I lowered my bid shortly before the deadline because in retrospe...

I will add two to the list.

Dexter Fowler - think Cameron Maybin at a discount

Matt Cain - a pitcher usually available in Rounds 5 or 6 but with equal or better "stuff" as all or most pitchers going in Rounds 3 and 4
