Re: $1,000 Draft Champions League

I would like to sign up and make a donation to this league if there are any spots open. Thanks. Do we sign up here or on the sign-up page, wasn't sure?

Re: A New Way Of Looking At The Box Score

Interesting. Would be AWESOME for baseball. Watch all of your guys AB's and whatnot. When can we except this as part of live scoring Greg? HA. (Since I'm over 40 years old I refuse to use smiley faces)(more g-d smiley faces used on these MB's by grown men than by high school girls at a Bieber meet-n...

Re: We've Reached Out To Chicago Auction Owners

I feel bad about abandoning the Windy City this year and after being contacted by a few owners there I thought I'd email the group to see what we could do in 2014. I can't guarantee that we'll return to Chicago, but if the demand is there we'll do everything we can to help these owners. No need to ...

Re: Looking For Feedback On Sunday FAAB Deadline

God, I would kill to have the FAAB deadline as late as possible. We have one opportunity to pick up players for the week and we are working with imperfect information at 7:00 PM EST. Later deadline allows more information, allows more time to enjoy your day and dinnertime. And then late at night ya ...

Re: 2014 NFBC Rules Changes

So the pitching rule stays the same? No switching out for a pitcher that hasn't pitched yet? No changes to the Friday pitchers rule in 2014. Disappointing. We talked ourselves around in a circle and got scared out of a simple, yes simple, rule that everyone over-complicated. Now when someone suffer...

Re: 2014 NFBC Live Draft Dates: March 21-23, 27-30

I agree, Russ, I never liked the Roman Numerals either. Just looked out of context. Primetime 12 looks simpler. As far as the 'Classic', it can be given any name it wants, it'll still be the Main Event to most of us. When we order a Coke, we assume it'll be a 'Coke Classic'. We don't have to say th...

Re: 2014 NFBC Live Draft Dates: March 21-23, 27-30

Also, the NFBC Main Event is being called the NFBC Classic for now and the NFBC XII is being called the NFBC Primetime. Now that the NFBC XII ( a name I always hated :( ) is being renamed to Primetime and the ME is changed to Classic, I think the Roman Numerals should be repurposed to a suggestion ...

Re: chicago peeps- need your opinion on wrigley

For pure bang-for-your-buck, the upper-deck infield box is a great seat. Unlike the modern stadiums, the upper deck is pretty low to the action and comparable to modern stadium club levels. Grandstand seats between first and third base are not too bad either and provide a nice value ticket. Bleacher...

Re: NFBC Rules Changes For 2014

I'd like to see Game #163 or #164 done away with. The season is written for 162 games and everybody is on an equal ground. Many of these leagues are decided by fractions. I've both won and lost on the added Playoff games, but not once have I've felt it is fair. Most teams wont bother to check and u...

Re: who needs what tonight

We needed a few things to happen tonight but as lucky as we got, we also got screwed. We were down 1.5 to tie for first and got two RBIs and a run, that actually got us the tie. The killer is that we would have won outright with one more run..... the run that Wil Myers should have scored on the tra...

Re: who needs what tonight

Well I hung on by the narrowest of margins. I'll recap my last two days tomorrow. I'd be surprised if anyone could top the drama/miracles I needed to win. I'm too tired and worn out emotionally to do it tonight. Sorry for the pissy mood today. It's just so incredibly stressful to be in the middle o...

Re: who needs what tonight

God, I love all these scenarios still in play after all these games. So sick, it's beautiful. Makes me long to be in contention. You can't duplicate the year-end drama fantasy baseball provides. I may have to throw some "units"on the game just to generate that same "energy."

Re: who needs what tonight

I had an insanely lucky day yesterday. As my baseball partner emailed to me yesterday, "U have a horseshoe up your ____". I needed about 5 things to happen yesterday in order for me to have a chance at 1st place. They all happened. The craziest of all was that I was tied in K's and the guy I was tr...

Re: Tie Breaker-Do the stats count?? Can we set rosters??

It seems odd to me that this game has its own scoring period. To me...this game is an "add-on" and should be part of the last period. Clearly the rules indicate that this game counts but I don't see why this game should be considered as a new period and all of the teams are allowed to activate all ...

Pretty cool to have watched his entire career during my most-sports-aware years (i.e. not a kid). True class act. He will be missed. Greatest Closer of All-Time.

Re: NFBC Rules Changes For 2014

I cannot fathom how, when we are spending $1600 for a team, more control over our teams to avoid the impact of injury to our pitchers can be viewed as a bad thing. If you don't have the time, or you simply don't want to swap out an injured pitcher and replace him, then don't. But at least those do c...

Re: NFBC Rules Changes For 2014

It's the old John Smoltz rule! Here's how it works: for the final week, I'm unsure if Sonny Gray or Jarrod Parker are going to pitch this weekend. Either way, they're definitely not going to pitch before Friday. I plug in Brandon Beachy into my starting lineup on Monday. On Friday, it's clear...

Re: Looking For Feedback On NFBC Draft Champions

Change the prize money so First place is awarded more money than 2nd & 3rd place. This may do away with the stack-pitching, punt-hitting draft strategies so as not to provide a financial incentive to finish in 3rd place. In other words, why are we awarding $1,000 for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place equally (at...

Wow. Thanks for re-visiting this Rainiers. I just re-read what I had written last year, and it was almost chilling to me. I had forgotten that I had brought up my thoughts on Brain Runge. My 2013 All-Star Game Selections

I always love this time of year to fill out my All-Star Ballot for the Mid-Summer Classic, a game I still cherish despite the annual criticism from the Media & Baseball Elite. I will be attending my 6th game this summer and want to ensure only the truly deserving start the game. Joe Sheehan, in desc...
