Re: BHQ NFBC League Overall Standings?

As the current first place team in one of these leagues, I'd sure love to see this too although I understand that it's set up as a 'private' league and thus might not be visible to us. If that's the case, is there any way to get a 1-45 overall standings perhaps on a weekly or bi-weekly basis? Even m...

Re: Let's See Some Early Draft Results: 6 Rounds Per League

braun all the way back up to 1.1! It was the first NFBC league that he went higher than 4th. I believe Braun was taken 1.1 in one of the AFL leagues that were loaded on the NFBC system. I apologize if I'm mistaken. You are correct, it was Arizona Fall League #3. Top 5 were Braun, Kemp, Albert, Tulo...

Re: Let's See Some Early Draft Results: 6 Rounds Per League

It looks like the panic over at 3B has settled down just a bit, with a few guys going surprisingly later than expected (Zimmerman and Aramis in particular). A few are still going way too early IMHO (Lawrie, Sandoval) but the most interesting thing I see is that ARod and Youk seem to be joined at the...

I'll throw in a few I haven't seen yet: --Illya Kuryakin (David McCallum) in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Don't know why I always liked him better than Napoleon Solo (Robert Vaughn). --Dr. Tony Newman (James Darren) in The Time Tunnel. Before there was Quantum Leap, there was The Time Tunnel. Re: Will Fielder Return To The Brewers?

I see three possibilities: 1) Texas if they don't sign Darvish. Mitch Moreland isn't going to block him, and neither will 36 year old Michael Young, who can still play multiple positions and let Prince DH 1-2 times per week. 2) Washington, whose owner will not let one year of LaRoche at $8m get in t...

Looking For Feedback On First Weekend East Coast Location

I live about 12 miles from that hotel and know the area pretty well. First, you're going to need a car. It's about a 25 mile trip to Manhattan and is a bit isolated. There are plenty of restaurants/bars not far away on Route 17 in Bergen County, NJ or on Route 59 in Rockland County, NY (Mahwah is ex...

More Details On 12-Team Main Event

Greg, why don't you poll the 45 owners from the AFL Draft-and-Hold leagues to get their opinion? My guess is that the vast majority of them would be first-time players, and I'm guessing few of them monitor these boards. Yes, it's a small sample, but so are the active members of these boards (which a...

Join Us At The Arizona Fall League Symposium

I was a participant in League 1 and Avila went at the end of the 6th. Also, there's a mistake in our list above as the #9 pick was not Justin Upton but instead Michael Bourn (Upton went at the turn with pick #16). It was a fun experience but there were so many first-time drafters involved that I'd t...

2012 MLB Free Agents: Where Are They Going?

Other than a couple of starters (CC, CJ), some decent closers, Prince, Albert, Reyes and maybe Aramis and Beltran, this list is a Big Yawn. True, some of the guys with asterisks are pretty interesting (Cano, Phillips, Yadier) but their option is Club or Mutual, so they're probably not going anywhere...

Feedback Wanted On 12-Team NFBC Main Event

Originally posted by Cowboy Joe: If the goal is to increase the customer base, especially at live events, I suggest a different but complementary model to the main event. 1. Set the entry fee at the lowest point that is cost feasible to the NFBC. I bet there are far more prospective players who hold...

Dealing With Anonymous Owners In 2012

Just to throw it out there (not sure if this will help or hinder the discussion): why not just create one "Anonymous" league? Pick some pre-Main leagues (perhaps one at each pricing level) and say "if you want to play anonymously at the $350 level, here is the league. It will be the only $350 pre-Ma...

Mike Morse went for some huge numbers in a few leagues. LaRoche's torn labrum could turn Morse into the full-time 1Bman the rest of the season, plus he had a hot week.

Just got back from tonight's game, and they again played bullpen-by-committee but with a brand new set of arms. MacDougall takes the 7th, just like the night before. Then comes Rubby de la Rosa, throwing 96mph gas to cover the 8th. Then, the save goes to...Javy Guerra. Wha??? So that's the 8th innin...

I was at this game last night (in Houston for business). Jansen threw everything at around 92-93mph, which is just a bit below his usual 94-95. The main problem was, as usual, lack of control over that heat. When he missed the zone, he missed big. He was on his way to a usual Jasen inning (2 baserun...

I was at that Yankee game (took my son for his 11th birthday) when they set the record for GIDP's, and Harrison was constantly around the plate and did a nice job of mixing things up. Yanks were constantly chopping at the ball, resulting in all of those grounders. He also fielded his position quite ...
