Re: Hot Stove
I don't get the Lowrie signing either unless it is the beginning of a plan to trade some players for pitching or a CF, their two immediate needs at this point. if there isn't one, they certainly have a lot more infield depth, and if McNeil and/or others can add OF to their positions, it could work O...

Re: First Online Auction - glitch?
I read this thinking there was an actual glitch with the software (why would the title actually relate to what was written ).
Can someone in last night's auction comment on the NFBC room for these - the fact that the complaint was pick 1 instead of pick 15 in Rd 24 suggests it went well.

Re: Hot Stove
Ramos my favorite of the 3 as well Dan. Right length, right money and a good RH bat to balance the lineup. It's a shame that they had to shed last year's mistakes as the Cano penalty or they could have saved 1 of the prospects. In regards to familia, not bad, but want to see how much Robertson gets,...

Re: Writers and the Hall
On that list, Dave Parker and Steve Garvey stand out to me. Both very good players with a strong reputation in their playing days, but just not HOF worthy. Trammell was in a similar boat last year, but not in the same unworthy ballpark as Baines. Will be interesting the floodgates of "very good" bal...

Re: Writers and the Hall
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Baines was in the HOF. Whether you like the writers or not, especially over their judgment of deciding who did or did not take steroids instead of their merits of HOF consideration, this Baines selection truly makes their job a lot more difficult. I think he was...

Re: Modern Day Drafting
Mike touched on it briefly, but the allure of Turner is much higher in an overall contest than a league. If he does live up to his max potential, it's maybe 1 or 2 league points in steals, but possibly 50-100 points overall. If he has last year's season, those 40-50 steals does exactly what it shoul...

Tiebreaker
Not to rebring up a sore subject for some, but since all 4 teams that could potentially play a divisional title game in the NL are already in the playoffs, would they still count as a regular season game for NFBC leagues?

Re: TO THE IT DEPARTMENT
Maybe you would get responses to your posts if your tone was better. If you have any non-cutline teams, you would see Merrifield does have OF choice for today's lineups, so phrasing a question of whether a new position can be obtained mid-week would be more appropriate then assuming the it departmen...

Re: Waiting for news
Most notably from Joe's comment, The Clock Doesn't Matter. You could make a 100 hr clock in a MTM or Doughboys league and it would still get done in a week or less. All the reduced clock does, individually or in total, is limit the sabotage the few can have on a draft. Everyone takes the max, even a...

Re: The Mostly Relievers Strategy
The part I don't get of this drafter's strategy is why waste a pick on darvish and ray, whose main benefit is K's and not back it up. Taking hitters with those 2 picks and taking a Marcus Stroman innings eater type later would have made more sense to me.

Re: 2018 Busts
I have Billy Hamilton for the 1st time in a recent auction. Why you ask? He was the cheapest of any auction at $16. I was able to focus the rest of the auction primarily on power, with players like Wil myers, Ryan Braun, Xander Bogaerts (hopefully single digit steals aren't part of the bust Dan) :mr...

I think it will be Cain/Yelich 1-2. With the team as is right now, probably Braun 3, Shaw 4, Santana 5 - that right/lefty split managers like to use

You beat me to this Dan. The "DAADDY" from that 1st draft was "THE" memorable moment of my time in the NFBC and I'm sure all that were involved, especially Rog. Even though I'm not in the league anymore, I look forward to this video every year.
Great job Mia!

Re: Looking Forward to Early Drafts...
Agreed Dan on his fielding. Improvement there could lead to the bat as well, especially for a 21 year old gaining confidence on both sides of the field. I know it was in the middle of Chapman's struggles, but a Homer to left center off a 102 mph fastball was one of the more impressive at-bats of the...

Re: Looking Forward to Early Drafts...
I will be interested to see how Devers moves as the season gets closer. He was pretty solid in his rookie year, with potential for more. I would put him in Kyle Seager's class, which is better than a 10th round pick (avg of the 2 drafts). Stability in Seager vs. Potential for a big gain if Devers ta...

Re: Over Management vs. Trusting Aces
Another premium starter gives up 1 run and can't make it through 5. Agree 100% with you Dan, refreshing to see Verlander go all the way. I know the drama for TV made for an excellent game 7 last year, but Maddon almost cost his team a title, as Hendricks was dominating and was in the same spot as Le...

Re: How About A $100,000 Grand Prize In The NFBC Cutline?
It's a universal FAAB suggestion, not a universal league. If only 1 league had judge available, 10 owners would be eligible to bid. If 20 leagues had him available, 200 owners could bid, with 20 getting him, of which 10 could be in the same league. I believe this is how it would work, but someone co...

Congrats Dan on your title. The closest league of all of the Main Events. Pretty impressive to drop bellinger and pham and overcome to win.
