Re: The Contract League 2014 (MLBC) - SOLD OUT

KJ -will there be a Faab period prior to the opening game of the season? Very important to know this ahead of time, as that could impact owners draft plans regarding drafting of prospects One live FAAB right after the draft. Thereafter, same schedule as other NFBC leagues. One live FAAB right after...

Re: The Contract League 2014 (MLBC) - SOLD OUT

See but that's where you're wrong Joe. In this game, there's two ways to win. Finish on top, which is the game we all know. Or finish with the best "cost to finish ratio"...thus being named MOY (Manager of the Year). Cost consciousness is the key there. Some play the first game only, some the second...

I'm just as guilty. I've been breaking his chops since last season when he ran out of FAAB before the All Star break in the Diamond.

Re: Win $200,000 In The Debut NFBC Platinum League

Not so fast there, Mr. Ambrosius. There is a change that I would like to announce that will affect the owner participation in this league. After all the abuse that I have been taking on this thread, I came to realize this past Friday that I was waaaaaaaay in over my head in this league. The truth o...

I think it's a solid concept for a DC event. I imagine the overall prize pool for something like this could grow rather quickly if there were no league prizes.

Re: Overall Main Event Grand Prize Increases to $200,000 in

This post got me thinking of a game that Bob, Q, Glenn, Mike, Mikey and others would probably love..... Hold drafts as we do today. 15 teams per league. Everybody drafts. After those drafts, those leagues are dissolved. All that is left is an Overall League. This would eliminate payments to league ...

Re: What Is Needed To Save Time On FAAB?

Maybe that's the potential angle Dan. I mentioned this to another player today and he suggested the same as you. The only potential issue I see with keeping it open for that long, is that if news breaks on a player, whoever is currently sitting online gets first crack at it. Any thoughts on maybe 10...

Re: What Is Needed To Save Time On FAAB?

My suggestion is most likely only applicable to non-overall contest leagues, but I'll throw it out there. When I bid on free agents I'm doing so in two different approaches. One is to bid on the hot AAA call-up, or injury replacement, or new closer. These are where multiple owners target similar pla...

Be forewarned anyone headed to Vegas. The slogan "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" runs counter to Mike's man code. Live Chat With Shawn Childs Tuesday, Feb. 15th, 7 PM ET

I know you're down on big CC a bit. He fixed the knee, dropped 25lbs, and has an opt out clause at the end of the season. Speculation is he will use it to join his pal Lee in Philly in 2012. With him motivated where do you see his upside? On a side note...I checked out your new site vufantasybasebal...

Should The NFBC Address 700 IP Minimum?

I was just being facetious Steve:) I happen to agree with you that the save, whether for your teams closer or to preserve your starters win is most likely the most excitable/frustrating part of a game. I actually do think having everyone play starting pitching is a good idea, I just wanted to come o...

Should The NFBC Address 700 IP Minimum?

I know this will never happen, but imagine if we could get rid of saves as a category altogether. This would cure a lot of these issues: - no need to draft closers or waste bench spots on in-waiting guys - changes faab in a big way - makes drafting, managing starting pitching a premium - takes away ...

Should The NFBC Address 700 IP Minimum?

I think I was one of the first people to employ the all-reliever strategy in the very first Ultimate league. I can remember Eddie Gillis turning to me after like round 13 and saying "do you realize that you do not have any starting pitchers yet." At that time I caught most of that league off guard w...
