Re: AL and NL only on-line auctions March 10-12
I'd be interested in both AL and NL, and any of the 3 days works for me. Prefer Sat/Sun rather than Friday, but any should work.

Do Canadian residents need to do anything to get paid, or should I just expect a cheque in the mail? Any ETA on those?

Re: Final ADP's
What I usually do is take ADP snapshots throughout March so I can find the ADP over various blocks of time. For instance, I had a draft yesterday and used the ADP for March 28th til April 4th. Takes about 2 minutes of calculating to get the data. No need to guess at trends, you can see in black and ...

So he goes from one of the coolest names to one of the least coolest names. huh. I always liked "Bossman Junior". Maybe his batting ability is inversely proportional to the appeal of his name.

Re: Public DC's and Fast/Slows
I've seen it brought up a few times that the clock could be significantly shortened and then paused during sleeping hours (have the league choose... west coast, east coast, Australian time if there's the demand for it). Or a total of 48 hours (or something) per team to make all of their picks. Those...

Re: Public DC's and Fast/Slows
he's not even in a DC, he's in your satellite auction that's not even part of the DC National Championship Why does this matter? You guys still take a 20% cut and we still have to wait for him, don't we? There have been a couple reasonable suggestions to improve the experience which have been ignor...

Re: Public DC's and Fast/Slows
We've been working on the 27 round slow draft portion of a DC Auction from January 9th. We're in round 47. Hangs up on the same guy every round for 8 hours, which is usually in the middle of the day. He's been on the clock for the past 3.5 hours so I guess there won't be any picks until 7:30 tonight...

Re: Homer heavy ballparks
It's not really the monster that takes away homers so much as the garage in right center. Fenway is actually very stifling for homers to LHBs. For RHBs, homers are about neutral. It is extremely beneficial for singles and doubles for all batters, as not only does the CFer have a ton of room to cover...

Re: Jose Iglesias Position
How is it trying to game the system? Am I gaming the system by playing Chris Davis at 3B even though we know he won't play there this year? The rules were very clearly written, and then modified after the fact because it was too late to correct it. I know it's not going to change at this point, but ...

Re: Jose Iglesias Position
Why would he only qualify at UTIL?? It clearly says in the rules: "If a player returns from retirement or rehab after missing the previous year, his position eligibility will be based on his previous year's eligibility." Last year he was eligible at SS/3B. It seems the rule was written for this exac...

Give me 2 weeks to get up to weight and I'll be in. I believe I'm a little short of 250 but with some hard work I know I can get there. I'll have to start riding my office chair to the lunchroom.

Re: 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees
Sutton was good for a really long time. You can't look at shutout totals of a guy that pitched in the 1960s and compare it to modern players. The game is different. It's like saying Todd Jones was better than Hoyt Wilhelm because he had more saves. Sutton led the league in shutouts once . Career ERA...

Re: 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees
There's no legitimate argument to keep him out using stats, it's pointless to try. It's the off-field stuff that will hurt him. Many people have unfavourable political views (including Smoltz if he compared being gay to being an animal lover) but Schilling was a loudmouth so everybody knows all the ...

Re: 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees
I'm not saying they're dirty, or advocating for them to be discredited for their accomplishments. But if I had to guess, I would say the fact that Griffey could put up 3 consecutive seasons of a 325+ ISO in the heart of the steroid era is pretty suspicious. Over the past 8 years nobody has done that...

Re: 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees
Narratives are easy to form after the fact. How many people publicly suspected him before Canseco's book came out in his final season?? My point is, you never know whose doing them. I would assume almost all of the power hitters from the 90s were on them. Griffey, Frank Thomas, Thome, plus all the o...

Re: 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees
There is almost definitely a steroid user, if not many, already in the Hall of Fame. Athletes have been using them since the mid 1960's. Tests were openly done in 1965 to measure the effectiveness of three types of steroids on football players. The Olympics started testing for them in 1968. And I'm ...

Re: 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees
Don't know if trolling, or you actually think that's a good argument against Schilling... He wasn't "a little above average". His career ERA+ was 127 which is the same as Bob Gibson and Tom Seaver. And yeah, like you mentioned he was also one of the best playoff pitchers of all time. Is he an asshol...

Re: Slow Drafts
Alternative draft idea: Give everybody a set amount of time for their entire 50 rounds (36-48 hours per person?). If you run out of that clock, you have 1 minute/pick for the rest of your picks. The problem with this idea is that the clock has to stop for sleep, or else someone that picks timely an...

Re: 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees
Doesn't make sense to me how Schilling and Mussina have less votes combined (by a longshot) than Smoltz. Each of them has a pretty good case of being better than Smoltz.
Also, I'm waiting for the NFBC to get rid of their "Small Hall" mentality. What gives?
