Chronicle of a Draft that is Too Big To Fail

With three co-owners, this ownership group is clearly Too Big To Fail. Preparation was the word this year. Drafting the Main Event online, there was incentive to set an exacting queue. Four slow drafts helped the process, especially Doughboy’s 3-day “slow draft” that had the feel of a ME draft. A la...

Re: Do not draft with list?

NFBC Staff's objections aside, where is the actually list of people not to draft with. I'm not signing up for another one without looking at that list first. NFBC admin has already talked with owners...Every night from 6-9 EST a guy holds up the draft, while most of the league is waiting to draft. I...

Re: Direct Deposit Forms Are Due Oct. 15

It's frustrating that nearly four weeks after the season ended, there is neither a firm date that payments will be sent, or any meaningful explanation why the NFBC can't say when the payments will be sent, other than an "internal project" was scheduled that put them a week behind. This is clearly a ...

I agree Glenn, kudos to Ron for being upfront and honest. We'd expect nothing less from Ron. Meh. What I read was what I've come to expect from Ron. It was DFS's fault. It was his customers' fault. It was greed's fault. Everything except Ron was at fault. The closest he came to owning up was when h...

I don't play Draftkings. But you didn't say Draftkings, you said Fanduel. And lovesbases. And I know what it's like when looking at games on Fanduel. Lovesbases and zzzimsleeping is in every one. Just like the Primetime with Derbies and Coctails.

Sounds like you are changing your story.

Re: Chris Vaccaro On STATS Fantasy Advantage

Enough of this. What Chad is doing is well within the rules and helped save the Primetime this season. The start is great, but that's all it is, a great start. Why don't you bitch about two top 10 teams in the online championship with 3 entries. There is zero competitive advantage. We have no probl...

Re: Chris Vaccaro On STATS Fantasy Advantage

As you are apparently better at fantasy baseball than reading comprehension, and counting, I'll let your own words defeat you. Hypocrite would be incredibly stupid as well. Nothing even remotely hypocritical about it. You comparing dfs cash games to this is ludicrous. And if you read closely, I neve...

Re: Chris Vaccaro On STATS Fantasy Advantage

Knuckle: I don't want to requote the whole thing. If you cannot understand the difference between someone winning daily major events with someone having enough to take absurd random combinations that are not logical on their own merit, and this, I cannot help you any further. It is pretty much as s...

Re: Chris Vaccaro On STATS Fantasy Advantage

This conversation is a bit premature when discussing any success of lack there of. In reality I think it's a DFS discussion but one that is not new to the NFBC or the NFFC. Some have challenged 2 or 3 entries into the overall championships. This is well within the rules and the NFBC has determined ...

Re: Chris Vaccaro On STATS Fantasy Advantage

Can you please enlighten me on the advantage that faab gives me and Eric? Last I knew there are 12 teams in a league trying to win that league. We bid accordingly, to help our specific team try to improve and better position it. You are making this far too complicated. Quite frankly you sound like ...

Re: The Power of the Walk is That it Avoids the Power

Brian Kenny kills me. Agreed. He's just not very smart. Which is fine. Except he thinks he's really smart. Dan, your position is equal and opposite to Kenny's. Not all walks are bad. In fact, few are. It is the process of drawing a walk when a hitter should be looking to drive in runs that is bad. B...

Re: Chris Vaccaro On STATS Fantasy Advantage

I'm curious how people feel about having multiple entries in season long competitions. Specifically the Main Event, Primetime and Rotowire Championship. Does having 1 or maybe 2 teams versus having 10, 15 or even more teams per player change the way you view the completion we are in? Scott Waggener...

Re: Let's revisit Friday lineup changes for P

There are currently ZERO teams using a 6-man rotation. Doughy's resorting to the, "if we don't change the pitching rules now, the terrorist win" argument. That's a bit extreme. I mean this is a Fantasy baseball rule, let's not make this political & resort to political propaganda. Not sure he's reso...

Re: Let's revisit Friday lineup changes for P

It's a CHOICE. Believe me, the Manager with no Saves is not thinking he has an advantage over teams that already have two Saves from their Closers. This is not ONLY about injury, it is about having flexibility in our pitchers. I understand that you don't like it. I get it. Which brings us full circ...

Re: Let's revisit Friday lineup changes for P

You have to remember this, a team with a Closer with no Saves Mon-Thurs got 0 Saves from that guy Mon-Thurs. Zero. He still needs Saves. He'll have the choice of re-installing him or putting in a mediocre starter , who was left off the starting lineup, thinking that the Closer would enter a game. N...

Re: Let's revisit Friday lineup changes for P

Yes. There would be choices for Closers too if not pitching Mon-Thurs. Much like switching a power hitter for a speed hitter on Friday. It's only a little like it. To quantify the inequality: 100% of hitters can be swapped on Fridays. 10%-40% of closers would be able to be swapped on Fridays, rough...

The difference is, all hitters (whether they played or not) can be swapped. Only closers who don't pitched can be swapped. Closers who pitched can't be swapped.

Re: Let's revisit Friday lineup changes for P

Right. I don't see the inequity. Would it be an inequity the other way had Reed pitched well? There would still be inequity, not "the other way," but in the same way. The rule was suggested to alleviate the hardship of having to carry an injured player for seven days. But the unintended consequence...

Re: Let's revisit Friday lineup changes for P

This is not a flaw at all. Hitting-wise, we start Jarrod Dyson, thinking (hoping) he plays and does not. He doesn't. We replace him on Friday, knowing he probably won't play. We also start Jimmy Rollins, he goes 0-14 We replace him with somebody hotter. The penalty is already built in, we got littl...

Re: Let's revisit Friday lineup changes for P

Glenn's proposal is the best one, but again some people will use the Friday rule beyond replacing an injured player. The "hasn't pitched this week" idea is fatally flawed. The most important statistic for closers is Saves Chances. If you allow a closer to be removed on Friday if he hasn't pitched, ...
