Re: Top 5s

It's always a little depressing when the last draft is finished for the year, but I find some solace in perusing the draft boards of other ME leagues. There are always surprises, and some shocks. Here are my lists of the top-5 over- and under-drafted players in 2016 ME Drafts. Top-5 Over-drafted pl...

Re: nItE NiTe thread

Mr. Gekko, your readers want to know if Carlos Correa will be added to this list soon, given his plummeting results since his Tuffy Rhodes-like start to the season?

Re: nItE NiTe thread

Preview of coming attractions to this thread...Miguel Sano. Spring Training - 52AB with 20K. Unsustainable. Regular Season - 13AB with 7K. REALLY Unsustainable. May be pressing even more trying to learn a new position. Additional injury risk due to playing new position. Getting removed at end of ga...

Re: Carlos Correa

I didn't like any hitters typically available at the 2/3 turn which caused me to downgrade kershaw. I believe the correct play out of the early slots this year was hitter/SP/SP. Agreed on both accounts. I think the 7th pick is the earliest I would have drafted Kershaw. Picking Kershaw in top-5 guar...

Re: Chronicle of a Draft that is Too Big To Fail

Draft Analysis I like a leave-it-alone pitching staff. I don’t like playing catchup with ratios, and I can’t stand falling behind in wins or Ks. Too Big To Fail had plans this year to leave the draft with its pitching staff fully operational. All that being said, if there was ever a year to go 4, 8...

Nothing. Donaldson has a calf strain and Deadheadz was speculating that was why Donaldson was wearing an elbow guard. Don't blame Deadheadz for getting it wrong, apparently Aristotle is encouraging him.

Re: Strange coincidence for New York baseball teams

I'm no Mets fan. But even I thought it was bad idea to make the Mets watch the Royals opening night World Series celebration. MLB has it's head squarely up its own ass.

Re: Top 5s

Relevant discussion only as it applies to roster construction but the analysis (HR/RBI vs SB/AVG) clearly goes to Gordon. 40 HR and 60 RBI are worth about 2.58 points. 57 SB and the additional average (in this case measured by additional hits) is worth about 4.88 points. As to the "30 SB/Good Avera...

Re: Top 5s

Nelson Cruz and Gordon have performed close to equal the last 2 years in Avg. and Runs (slight edge to Gordon on Avg.). Cruz averaged 42 HR 100 RBI 4 SB. Gordon averaged 3 HR 40 RBI 61 SB Gordon is a better age, Cruz has a longer track record. ME ADP (Gordon 21, Cruz 53) tells us ME drafters view Cr...

Re: Top 5s

My case for Dee Gordon. The guy does something that no one else in the major leagues can do. Even if you think his .333 BA is a fluke, he is still a .300 hitter with 205 hits in less than 150 games. With steals becoming harder to find, Gordon gives you 60. Drafting a 2nd baseman with 60 SB, .300+ h...

Re: Trout Harper Goldy....Then What?

OK I'll bite. I admit I had similar feelings when projecting Correa earlier in the year. I was more comfortable with Arenado and drafted accordingly. But leading up to my main event, I noticed how my other teams shaped up and figured why not take Correa at 6 when I liked Carpenter, Beltre, Duffy, a...

Re: Top 5s

Correa went #9 in the Ultimate draft. even a 'bad' season for Correa would likely be 20/20 at a position where that is incredibly rare. Can't see him delivering less than 2nd round value as his floor unless he gets hurt. Matt, in response, I offer this list of second-year players: Eric Hosmer Wil M...

Jim, you did a great job of building around Correa from the 7-spot in our draft, but I'm sure you'd admit to being aided by some premature drafting of Posey and DeGrom.

As for Story, he may indeed have gone too low in our draft.

Re: Top 5s

I got Correa at 8 so not sure if that still makes him overdrafted. Now I love Archer was planning on taking him at 38, BUT Encanarcion was still on board so I took Edwin, and lo and behold Archer almost came back to me he went 52nd overall, great value for Archer. Wolfpac Correa went as late as 8 t...

Trout Harper Goldy....Then What? Apparently, Carlos Correa. I'm not sure that it matters so much which roster spots you fill in the first three rounds, as those players performing as expected. This is why I am confused by Correa's late ascension to a top-5 pick during ME drafts. Any projection for ...

I was hoping stupid decisions would have left the game with Bud Selig. What kind of a league overlaps it's exhibition season with it's regular season? Just dumb.

Re: Chronicle of a Draft that is Too Big To Fail

Thanks, Craig. The boring players comment was astute. I don't know that it was so much a strategy as just the players I value more. Or at least more than others. Hector Santiago was in play when we drafted Canha. We took Santiago with our next pick, but we also had E. Santana, Nicasio, Snell, Conley...
