Monday Chat Has Begun

Thanks, GG, Mark..whatever! I always buy just as many magazines as I get my hands on plus staying updated as much as possible on-line (damn job sure gets in the way) but the Shandler book is on the pricey side (I know, what should I care about $24 when I just plopped down $1,250...again...not that t...

2005 LABR Values

I have what may be a stupid question...why are there always (seemingly) 12 teams for AL only and 13 teams for NL only? It cannot be because of hitting since the two additional NL teams would add 16 starting position players to the mix where the AL adds 14 DH's. Is it because of the pitching. Sure, t...

I have a question to the group...last year in Vegas we received a copy of Shandler's Baseball Forecaster. Outside of the clearly superior Krause publications :D , is the Forecaster "da' book" or is it just one in an arsenal?

Since people are slow diving in, I will give a little status update (just to get everyone quaking in their boots). I am just about through with my anaylsis of offense (or is that offensive analysis!). Sleepers by the dozen!

Auction League Updates

Greg, I had posted to Tom yesterday that I might be interested in a Chicago auction, but when I look at my flight reservations (that I got in December not wanting to wait until the last minute) I found my flight will not get in until 3:00 which is cutting it too close to make a 4:00 auction. I canno...

Is it me or are the Colorado Rockies really gonna suck swamp water this year (except Helton)? I mean, they have been bad in the past but they really look "Expansion Team" quality to me.

If you are real lucky, Pete Rose, Jr. might just fill the bill. Or Joe Charboneau?

Long enough to know my ranking in my castle...which is sixth behind one wife, two kids, and both cats. Walter, I will be up there with you in Chicago bringing a little southern sage wisdom into the show. So while you are deciding on which Cubbie left fielder to draft, I will be stealing the big buck...

Tom, Just got my 2004 bonus :D and am now in SERIOUS negotiations with the Ruler of the (well, my) Universe on adding an auction (probably mixed) league while I am there is Chicago. Depending on how much it costs in tribute, I should know by the end of the week. Maybe I can help close out on one of ...

Anyone want to share?

My virgin experience was in a draft league and I had the last pick of the first round and the first pick of the second round. I have no idea who I picked first, but my second pick was Alex Trevino, C, ATL. Lord help us I finished second but way, way behind the first place team.

I've been doing this in one form or another since like '83. Have had various skill levels in the leagues I have been in (mostly local) from college age/fraternity to local news and sports editors/producers. Have competed in draft and auction. I have won (more), finished last (least), in the money (m...

Top Dawg was asking for opinions on first round draft busts earlier and it kind of laid there. I guess no one wants to show there hands, but I am too dumb to worry about that kind of strategy...my biggest pick for first round bust will be Beltre. No hard facts, but I just think he will have postpart...

Hey Edelman! I just posted this on the string you started elsewhere, but I agree with Tom. Especially as you said you could have long term keepers. I would go with the youth rather than a couple of creaky old pitchers who will be getting relief soon from Depends rather than the bullpen.

keeper question

Well, two cents ain't worth much these days, but my particular opinion would be to keep Arod, Tex, and Crawford. You said long term and those three will keep you going for a while as opposed to a couple of creaky old pitchers who are a few years away from relying on Depends instead of the bullpen fo...

Coops, 7:00 at the Embassy sounds good. I will check in at my hotel, come down to register and meet you there. Sounded like a few others were interested, so I will talk it up at the registration. Coops, Sorry, been out of touch the last couple of days. Family in town and all that. Glad you liked Savannah. Generally a laid back place that really knows how to have a good time. Being at the end of the road (you do not go "through" Savannah, you have to go "to" Savannah), there is a certain quir...
