Re: Final Four, Baseball, and The Masters...
Let's go with some trivia for this time of year.... How many players have played in both the final 4 and the World Series? Go ahead and think about it... You've heard of the players, if being a baseball fan over the last 20 years. Ok, time is up. The answer is 2. And the funny thing is that they bo...

Russell and Vander, Good luck this year guys! I had gotten a pm from Dietrich about Chicago and I believe this was the first one in seven years that I missed. My son was on spring break last week so travel plans were altered. Drafted online today and wow do I miss the live experience. The online le...

Re: SOLD OUT: Chicago Main Event League 2
Another great weekend in Chicago is over. Both Dave and Coz really covered it well, but I'd like to add a few of my own thoughts. First, as usual, it's all about the people. We all love this game, but lets face it, we could do most, in not all of these games online. However, we do these games live b...

Re: 5 Days Until Opening Day!! Let The Games Begin
Throughout this thread we have been posting pictures of great players, or players that have meant something to Wayne and I personally from their respective times with either the Braves or Cubs. I just posted some of the Great players to have worn #5, none of them Cubs, although Lou Boudreau is near ...

MLB held it's very first Amateur Draft in June of 1965. The KC Athletics had the first pick. Re: Main Event Draft Orders Released On Monday
14th KDS selection this year 15th KDS selection last year KDS sucks for some of us and puts us in a disadvatage right from the start. Amen With each passing year I'm getting more and more interested in just doing the KDS live at the event. We can pull the leagues ahead of time, but I'm at the point...

Re: 10 Days Until Opening Day!! Let The Games Begin
From 1974 to 1998, 9 different Cubs wore number 10. Among them were .... Dave Kingman, one of the greatest pure power hitters in baseball history. He couldn't do much else, but when he hit the ball it went a long way. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/3f/8c/ad/3f8cad1b73bdff85b12f760367e424d...

Re: 12 Days Until Opening Day!! Let The Games Begin
Charlie Root wore a couple of different numbers with the Cubs, in 1932 he wore #12. Everyone knows the Cubs haven't won the World Series since 1908, but what a lot of people don't realize is that the Cubs made it back to the WS seven more times after that, losing each time. One of those WS losing at...

This is my favorite Pete Rose moment. In my mind, there is not a single better example of how hard Rose played...Every Game, Every Play, Every Pitch. Rose is on third base. Greg Gross hits a fly ball to the warning track in left field. It's deep enough that Mike Schmidt tags up from First Base and g...

Known by some as the "right-handed Babe Ruth", HOFer Jimmie Foxx was a three-time MVP. He played the bulk of his career with the Philadelphia Athletics and the Boston Red Sox. But he did play parts of two seasons with the Cubs at the end of his career where he wore number 16. After his playing days,...

Fans also remember the funny way Millán held his bat, choking up so high it looked as if he’d punch himself in the stomach when he swung at a pitch. He obviously did not choke the bat to produce home runs because he hit only 22 in his major-league career. He choked the bat to get hits and move up r...

Lee Elia didn't have much of a Major League career. He played 80 games with the White Sox in 1966 and then 15 games with the Cubs in 1968. That's it. He did wear #19 with the Cubs as a player. http://img.comc.com/zoom/f821b337-a431-4fb7-a424-722f920e104f.jpg Elia did manage the Cubs for all of 1982 ...

I kind of forgot about Randy Myers, but he had a good career. When Myers retired he was fifth all-time in Saves with 347. Myers played 3 seasons with the Cubs, 1993-95. He recorded 112 Saves during those three years, including leading the league in 1993 with 53. https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oM7uIs6Jt1...
