Thursday Live Chat Starts Now

Yea that's probably true. I covered the NFL for 9 years, so I probably lean a little more toward football than baseball though I've been playing fantasy baseball since the late 80s.

Nomo reminds me of what often happens to NFL running backs when they reach 30 years of age. They hit that wall and they don't nudge it, they slam right into it and become worthless almost overnight.

Sooner, I agree with your thoughts about the NBA. I miss the golden days of the 80s when Magic and Bird and Kareem and Jordan just getting started and most of all I miss those days cuz the Bucks kicked some serious a**. :D Seriously, I don't think the players are as good. They're bigger, stronger an...

It's sunny and raining here in Wisconsin -- gotta love this Midwest weather -- so what better reason to get a little chatter going on the boards this afternoon? Got something on your mind you want to vent about? How about something that makes you want to puff out your chests? All comments are welcom...

Latest on Wood is he left the game as a "precautionary measure." Wood said he could've pitched through the ailment if necessary. Cubs will know more after he undergoes some tests today. One thing's for sure, they can't afford to lose Wood with Prior still on the shelf. And yes that was the understat...

Which bid wins?

From STATS: "Sosa would be dropped in both scenarios. The first initial bid doesn't have

any affect on which conditional bid goes through. If there's a "tie" like in the scenario below, the first bid entered has to be processed first."

Friday Vent Starts Now.

Sooner, your comments about the pitchers raises an interesting question: How long do you stick with good starters or solid ones if they are struggling? I've always been of the mind that I'll give a guy an extra start or two too many rather than pull the plug too soon although if you have good option...

Friday Vent Starts Now.

I don't have much to vent about with my fantasy teams at the moment because, fortunately, I'm doing well so far. But I do have a few OT vents if nobody minds: 1. Why in the living h**l are there 4 days between games in the NBA playoffs? Seriously, how stupid is this to drag the season out so long? W...

Mike, I've forwarded your request to STATS (as well as the comments in the other thread about the Live Stats situation). I'll let you know what they have to say. viper, regarding your questions on Wednesday

1. Will those silly fractions in the league.v. league standings continue? As a member of NY4, I am happy to see these rankings. 2. Will we eventually be able to see the standings in all 13 leagues? I talked to STATS and they said both of those functions are now available. If you run into any problem...

One thing to keep in mind about gambling and the NFL, the NFL is the only professional sports league that prints a detailed list of each team's injury report for its upcoming games. I'm sure that's just for fan interest only. ;)

Speaking of football I just found out that one of the special guest stars in a fantasy football experts league draft I'm in tomorrow is none other than the Crime Dog himself -- Fred McGriff.

viper, we're going to find out very quickly about the potency of high-stakes events for fantasy football. Including the NFFC and WCOFF, there are about a dozen high-stakes events scheduled for this year. We'll see if all of them pan out and how everything unfolds, but the high-stakes events are clea...

I tell ya one thing I got a kick out of the other day was Maddux and Marquis stealing bases off one another. Gotta love pitchers going for one-upmanship on the basepaths. :D

The catcher position has been very interesting so far this year. Estrada's become a run-producing machine; Hernandez is really struggling with the Pads; the Giants hate Pierzynski and Mauer got hurt early in the year. I have Mauer in the KP League alongwith Estrada and picked up Hammock for Mauer an...

I'm obviously not in the NFBC but my team with Beltran is leading our KP Experts League. Gotta say I'm pretty happy with how my first-round pick is playing so far.

I'd like for someone to put out a Missing Person's report on Brett Myers and find out who that imposter is who's been stinking up the joint so far. I had him as a $6 keeper in my main league and he's killing me. My team's off to a good start, but Myers has been brutal.
