Re: Rules for 2020

I'm kind of neutral on this but I do love the passion. The MLB season has 2,430 games most years and we have a 3 page thread about whether or not the 2431st game which happens about once every 3 years should count or not. If my math is correct it represents on average 0.014% of the season.

Re: Pitching

Hardest thing I found about Wins this year is that the 2-start mediocre streaming pitcher had a good chance at 1 or 2 W in previous years. In 2019 though with the juiced ball, pitch counts were higher, starters were getting pulled earlier so a lot of times they didn't make it through 5 and even if t...

Re: Rules for 2020

I don't see the point of just removing Game 163. Yes it's mostly luck but a starter getting scratched for game 162 because his team clinched the playoffs on game 161 is just as much luck. If we're keeping the last week because we want to mirror the regular season stats then let's keep game 163 becau...

Re: Rules for 2020

I'd be in favor of removing the last week of the season on top of those tiebreaker games. You can call it skill but I just kept hoping that last week that my pitchers wouldn't get scratched for no reason. If that doesn't change, I decided my strategy next year would be to dominate all my leagues so ...

Re: Is There Interest In A Single-Entry NFBC Contest?

I'm not sure I'd do the add-on personally, I already think a big portion of our entry fee goes to the overall contest and wouldn't want to put up another 500 for a 1 in 30 chance of getting a payout. I do think for the single entry to gain traction it needs to be significantly different from the Mai...

Re: NFBC Historical Teams Now On Your My Teams Page

That's awesome, great work! Two suggestions: 1. Would love it if there was a way to separate Main Event ADP for the past seasons. The Main ADP is especially useful since it's the one contest that happens late in draft season so it really tells us how players were valued right before the season start...

Re: PreMature E-Draftulation League

Bellinger is basically the same player he's always been if you take out April. He'll go 4th early in draft season but I think he slips to mid-late 1st round later on, similar to Ramirez last year.

I also think by the time the Main starts, Cole will be going 4th, right after the big three.

Re: Would There Be Interest In NFBC Leagues With 3RR?

Yes. Sign me up. Yes anyone can win from any position. I have argued with people in Vegas about 3RR for years to no avail. My perspective is that 99% of the people take the 1st spot over the 15th spot in KDS every year because there is much more value (sorry Dan) at that spot. The first spot is abo...

Re: Is It Time To Discuss IP Minimums Going Forward?

Also, in my Main Event I'm chasing wins right now. Yes it's frustrating and yes it's a lot of time to find sneaky pickups but they are out there. Anthony Kay with an opener against the Orioles has a decent chance at a W. I spent a good two hours yesterday looking for sneaky pickups, it takes time bu...

Re: Is It Time To Discuss IP Minimums Going Forward?

The problem with QS is that they're boring. You say that. But if your starter has runners on first and second with 5 2/3, 3 ER as his stat line, you'll be plenty interested. Will he get pulled? Will walking another batter get him pulled? Will he get out of it? You'll also hang around to see if he g...

Re: Is It Time To Discuss IP Minimums Going Forward?

The problem with QS is that they're boring. Wins force you to watch the entire game and I think more fun to hope / cheer for than QS but they are more random and harder to predict. W + QS seems like a compromise between the two though. I don't think we're at a point yet where it has to be changed th...

Re: FAAB - Move to Monday?

Why not a couple of Holidays from FAAB? The first weekend in June and August, or some other fixed days, we skip FAAB as a whole. It would be a little something for our families and maybe schedule a vacation without the thought of FAAB. Call it a FAAB ( Forget Agonizing About Baseball) Holiday for u...

Re: Would There Be Interest In NFBC Leagues With 3RR?

I think some people may have interest in it but with 3RR in a 15-team I'd always target the back half of the first round. In a 12 though it would make sense because I do think having one of those first few picks is a pretty big advantage. The dilemma in the Main is always whether those top 2-3 hitte...

Re: Is There Interest In A Single-Entry NFBC Contest?

Here are my thoughts: 1. For me single-entry doesn't add much in baseball. I wouldn't join the contest just because it's single entry, I'd need something else to be different. 2. The way I choose my leagues is I try to have leagues where the strategy will be different. This year I had 2 Mains, $1,00...

Re: FAAB - Move to Monday?

I've been saying this for years. Give Fantasy owners their Sunday back in the summer. You mean give a handful of fantasy owners their Sunday back and lose all your other customers who work on Monday? Sunday's not perfect but it's what makes most sense for most people. Most people work during the da...

Re: FAAB - Move to Monday?

I guess it all depends on everyone's schedules but for me Sunday is much easier. I find an hour or two of free time on Saturday or Sunday and then do a final checkup on Sunday evening. For me Monday is my busiest day of the week workwise. i guess I could still do the bulk of the work Sunday night an...

You may want to e-mail Greg for confirmation but from the rules: Every team's optimal scoring lineup will be automatically scored each week (Monday through Sunday) from the required 23 starting positions. Never played cutline but i assume they optimize the lineup for hitters with multi position elig...

Re: Next Year is Coming Fast

The best thing about the 2020 season will be the end of 40 man rosters in September. Starting next year, rosters will expand to 28 players instead. Baseball was the only sport that drastically changed the rules of their game for the final month of the regular season. Agreed, I can't stand those 10-...

I should be able to make it to New York once again this year. For anyone hesitant about making the trip, I was there for the first time last year and it's definitely worth it.

Re: Next Year is Coming Fast

I didn't say I had any new ideas, I said I'd be fine with changes. I'd be fine with making it OBP instead of AVG, finding a way to increase the value of middle relievers (not holds though), replacing SB with something else, all minor leagues being available for bidding (even if they haven't been cal...

Re: Next Year is Coming Fast

I really don't expect anyone to agree with me. The point of my original post was to get the NFBC going in preparing for players like Ohtani, McKay, and other minor leaguers doing the same next year. Get a ruling in what will happen with these players. We like to think that we have a perfect game he...

Re: Next Year is Coming Fast

In football, if a running back throws a 60 yard pass for a touchdown, it counts! He's not a quarterback, but he did it. We saw it. It counts! In Football if any offensive player throws a pass for an interception that also counts. Negative points! You’re making a good argument for counting offensive...

Re: Next Year is Coming Fast

I knew that I would get that argument. We can't follow MLB exactly. It would not be fair in a fantasy league to have a drafter use an extra player or have an extra roster spot. If IT could find a way where his drafter could use him as both, wonderful. No worries. It won't happen. In that case I rea...
