dough - reread the last couple of sentences. in 2019, it was done as you are asking.

"Pitchers, however, will lock with their first game of the week. So all pitchers in the Thursday game are locked for the week on Thursday. All other pitchers will lock before their first game after the break."

With the All-Star break upon us here's a reminder about how lineups will lock this week. All hitters can be replaced on Friday per usual so this means any hitter from the Thursday game can be started on Thursday and replaced on Friday. Pitchers, however, will lock with their first game of the week....

Greg, I can see how adding a superstar to the FA pool can be perceived as an unfair advantage to the team that gets him but I question how much that one player would really impact the overall standings.
