Re: NFBC Rank & ADP Influence
When first starting on computers, some defaults were alphabetical. Ugh.

Re: NFBC Rank & ADP Influence
Doesn't that imply that default is doing its job?.... Moving Hader and Hendriks to where they have been going in a majority of drafts... Well, no. Owners are taking the closers so early BECAUSE the first two were ranked 30 & 32 - with the other closers following shortly thereafter - and then add th...

Re: NFBC Rank & ADP Influence
If Greg ranked them that low at the beginning, I don't know the source used.
In the PreMature League, Hendriks went 33, Hader 34.

Re: NFBC Rank & ADP Influence
Just a little add....
The high cost of Closers, beyond Hader and Hendrik, comes mostly from the updating of DC's themselves.
In the PreMature E-draftulation League, the third Closer to come off the Board was Raisel Iglesias in the sixth round.

Re: More Power, Scotty!
Damn, forgot to put this in the post.... I have an NFBC friend who ONLY drafts K pitchers. Starter or Reliever, if a pitcher does not have a high K rate, he is of no interest to this fella. For three years, I have told him that Adam Wainwright was being had at a good price. I knew he'd ignore me and...

Bill Buckner Bobby Abreu Thurman Munson These three players have done something during the modern age that no other players have done, as far as I know. Buckner, Abreu, and Munson each had 100 rbi seasons three times without benefit of even 20 home runs each of those years. Think about that. To me, ...

Re: IFB
There are some things about baseball I do not miss. I do not miss the way the game is played today. Analytics trumpets the walk and OBP. In doing this, teams have asked players to take more pitches. It has changed the game. For one, it is damned boring in being a fan and just watch the pitcher play ...

Re: MLB Fans Lockout Date - 01/15/2022
Most likely not going to be done by January 15. Neither side is losing money right now. They have no impetus to get a deal done quickly. The Holidays will limit bargaining time. A better deadline would coincide with the first Spring Training game. The players start getting the itch. The owners feel ...

My Grandson is not a baseball fan. I try not to hold that against him. He does realize how much baseball means to me. He knows enough NOT to ask how any local team is doing and asking how my fantasy teams are doing. Good kid! He called me last week to let me know he had covid. For me and my wife, th...

Re: Sam Huff: C or 1B?
Normally I'd e-mail about this but we are drafting now and people may see this. Sam Huff is listed as a catcher on the site, but he only played 1B in the minors last year. He should be 1B-only. I will change that now. Refresh the draft room to see that. I don't think the Premature League was drafte...

In the PreMature Draft, the NFBC penalized a drafter for not having a full roster. The drafter thinking Huff would be C eligibl...

I've participated in a few drafts already and have heard about more. One thing that is prevalent so far in these drafts is the need for speed. In March, Starters will be pushed up like normal, but in November drafters are craving steals. Myles Straw in the sixth round? Tatis Jr. and Turner at the he...

Re: NL Manager of the Year Finalists
I don't disagree with you, Wayne. Every one of us has a bias. Especially writers. Atlanta winning another division? That is boring for writers. The Cardinals go on an 18 game win streak in assuring a playoff spot. THAT is a story. My own personal thought is that Manager of the Year is kind of a lame...

Re: NL Manager of the Year Finalists
So the guy who managed a team that lost its starting catcher for more than half the season, lost the clean-up hitter to a domestic violence incident, lost arguably the best player in baseball and lead off hitter on July 11th for the season, but yet won the division, the LDS, the LCS, and World Seri...

Stupid politics. It's all anybody wants to talk about. The Republicans. The Democrats. Both make me proud to be Independent. My friends say I've got a one track mind. They're right. No shrink is ever going to help me. If anything, with the way the world is today, reality pales to fantasy. :) Thanks ...

A Visit to the Shrink
I got roped into going to the fantasy baseball shrink's office... Shrink: How long have you been addicted to fantasy baseball? Dough: How long have you been wearing 'wing tips' ? Shrink: That's a long time. Are you good? Dough: In fantasy, we go year by year. So, I suck. Shrink: Then why do you play...

The Most Interesting Man in Fantasy Baseball
Juan Soto Analytics love this guy. He reached base over 300 times via walks and hits last season. He walks more than he strikes out. Analytics compare him to Hall of Famers like Ted Williams. At 23, he is truly an amazing player. But, what about for fantasy? While analytics treat Soto as the best pl...

Re: New NFBC Store Is Now Open For Business!
Hey Greg, Remember way back when we had weekly prizes? What if those were brought back with stuff from the NFBC store? It'd be a great way of getting the product out there to folks. Maybe a small carrot for some that can't cash in their leagues but still have a strong enough team for a weekly prize....

RIP Jerry Remy
I don't do a lot of 'RIP' here. We revere a players greatness, but it is the greatness on the field that we adore. We never really 'know' a player. With broadcasters, we are inviting them into our homes and we do get the feeling of getting to know them. I loved listening to Jerry Remy. He 's a throw...

Point taken.
There isn't as much 'work' required for football and baseball does have a way of going from excitement to tedium over the long haul.
