A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll of 1,003 adults found that 50 percent of those polled believe it's OK to forgo warrants when ordering electronic surveillance of people suspected of having ties to terrorists abroad.

WTF is going on in America!!! Civil liberties down the chitter! Police State to follow.

Have You Forgotten?

By Darryl Worley

I hear people sayin'. We Don't need this war.

I say there's some things worth fightin' for.

What about our freedom, and this piece of ground?

We didn't get to keep 'em by backin' down.

They say we don't realize the mess we're gettin' in

Before you start preachin' let me ask you this my friend.

Chorus

Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?

To see your homeland under fire

And her people blown away

Have you forgotten, when those towers fell

We had neighbors still inside goin through a livin hell

And you say we shouldn't worry bout Bin Laden

Have you forgotten?

You took all the footage off my T.V.

Said it's too disturbin for you and me

It'll just breed anger is what the experts say

If it was up to me I'd show it everyday

Some say this country just out lookin' for a fight

Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say right.

Chorus

Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?

To see your homeland under fire

And her people blown away

Have you forgotten when those towers fell

We had neighbors still inside goin' through a livin' hell

And we vow to get the ones behind Bin Laden

Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers

Who've gone away to war

you can bet they remember just what they're fightin' for

Have you forgotten

All the people killed

Yes some went down like heroes

In that Pennsylvania field

Have you forgotten

About our Pentagon

All the loved ones that we lost

And those left to carry on

Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden

Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?!

what bin lapdog and his friends did will never justify going to a police state. the USA got hit by the terrorists and now we're being hit by the government. which is worse...time will tell

The "we're" group I belong to has had no problems with this issue.

Terrorists should be wire tapped. End of story.

They are not tapping you or I, so stop trying to make it out like they are.

john - i am not talking about terrorists. re-read the initial post...

"people suspected of having ties to terrorists abroad"

that could mean you or me if we mention "bomb" or "nuclear" or hundreds of other choice words in a cell phone/e-mail conversation.

My guess is Lambert will lean a little too far to the right for your taste.

Debates about politics rarely lead to anyone changing their mind in the least so I try not to enter them.

For the record I strongly disagree with you on drafting 2 closers, and the extension of power of the Executive Branch during times of crisis.

Would love to hear your thoughts on Alito and a possible filibuster, I happily took one in the pooper on Ruth Bader Ginsburg because a democrat was elected and it is his right to choose he wants as long as she is qualified. Is there a double standard here with Alito?

The NSA must have a staff of millions then.

The best-known literary treatment of the police state is George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, which describes life under a totalitarian régime that uses the constant presence of eternal war as a pretext for subjecting the people to mass surveillance, constraining both freedom of action and of thought.

[/QUOTE]I don't think you've been able to say "bomb" on airplane your entire life.

We've been attacked, the government needs to do whatever it takes in time of war. "those" chosen few have to be suspected before something is done.

No where in that post does it say he has the right to do it to anybody. That would be problem you are alluding to and are trying to make it out to be.

is this included in the "whatever it takes"?

There have been 2,409 coalition deaths, 2,210 Americans, one Australian, 98 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, two Danes, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Hungarian, 26 Italians, one Kazakh, one Latvian, 17 Poles, one Salvadoran, three Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians in the war in Iraq as of January 11, 2006, according to a CNN count.

No one denies he kept the Senate Committee responsible for this area in the loop on what they were doing.

Now that they suspect political capital can be gained on it they will try to exploit it.

The Republicans have given the Democrats an extra 1st round pick and 500 extra FAAB dollars for the midterm elections. It will be very interesting to see if they do anything with it.

Great article in Newsweek this week on George Allen and Mark Warner and how 2 of the hottest 08 candidates are from Virginia.

Speaking of reading Gekko- pick up a copy of Feinsteins new book called next man up or something like that. Best insider look at the NFL I have ever read.

I guess "they" are the cartoons you post all the time. I'm more inclined to listen to my b-in-law that has served twice and is an offcier. A tad more respect for that. That's all I know.

When YOU are being wiretapped, and your not suspected of being a terrorist, I'll be the first guy in line to fight the cause.
