Calling All Chicago League Owners

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Sat Feb 04, 2006 4:22 am

We're off to a great start in the NFBC this year with 228 signups for the main event as of this morning. We have 106 signups for Las Vegas, which makes sense since those folks who plan on drafting there need to get their travel plans taken care of well in advance of Draft Day. It happens this way every year, with more local residents signing up closer to the deadline for New York and Chicago.

New York signups are picking up as we had three signups there for the main event yesterday and I'm still hopeful that we can attract four leagues in Tampa, which would be a great debut. Now it's time to work on Chicago.

Last year we had 60 owners in Chicago and we're stuck at 24 right now. I know a lot of the people from last season who haven't signed up yet are still planning to return to the main event, but they just haven't officially signed up yet. Next week I'm putting my salesman hat on and calling many of you NFBC die-hards. So get ready for a call from telemarketer Greg and let's get your names on the official list for Chicago. It's time for the Windy City to blow up those numbers.

I'll be calling next week, so get ready to talk some baseball with me.

Also look for a good announcement on the boards next week and bigger news later this month. Stay well.

I drafted in Chicago last year but am moving on to Tampa this year. Do you know how many people are drafting in Tampa that drafted in Chicago last year? Which of the previous 3 sites lost the most entrants to Tampa? Just curious. Thanks.

Hey Greg, I'll help you sell Chicago.

Great round trip air fare, $179 from Houston last time I looked. Draft site and hotels very close to Ohare. Horse track about 10 minutes away with night time harness racing. Great steak place (Gibsons) walking distance from the draft site. Most competitive league last year was from Chicago. And, statistics favor the 2006 overall winner coming from a different city than last 2 years.
