Satellite Leagues Will Use Kentucky Derby Style Drafting

Post by Tom Kessenich » Thu Feb 09, 2006 4:38 am

Hey everyone, just a heads up that we will be using the Kentucky Derby Style of drafting for our Satellite Leagues. We believe this will be good practice for people taking part in our Main Event and Ultimate and get everyone familiar with the system and get a chance to try it out. We have contacted STATS to have them add the info the Rules section but going forward we will be using KDS for all of our drafts.

The KDS process allows owners to rank their order of preference for Draft Day, ranking their preferences 1 through 15 BEFORE the leagues are selected. If an owner wants the third pick if he is selected No. 1 overall in his league, he would choose that option and he would then be moved to third in that league on Draft Day. NFBC officials will look at every owner's Draft Preferences after the leagues and orders are randomly selected and then announce the draft orders for each league. Once each NFBC owner has officially signed up for the contest, they can find this feature in their game site under My Settings. Then click on Draft Preferences and you'll see the Draft Order ranked 1 through 15 and the option to change those preferences next to them. If you decide not to rank your preferences, your preferred order will remain 1 through 15. Owners can change their Draft Preferences right up until the announced deadline is set.

For all of the satellite leagues that are filled now, Tom is e-mailing each owner today and giving them a time schedule of when the Draft Preferences need to be set and when we'll randomly pick the leagues. The full Feb. 21 league will have a KDS deadline of Monday and we'll pick the leagues on Tuesday morning. That will give those owners a full week to prepare for their draft spots. Tom is setting the deadlines for the full Feb. 28th and March 7th leagues now and e-mailing those owners.
