First Round Numbers. Fielder may have a couple of more hr's.
Hosmer in every other category.

Based on your line of questioning it sounds like those owners did you favor by drafting him early. I had pick #1 and knew there was no chance I was getting Hosmer at the 2/3 turn

just dont see it, absolutely no Value at that point in the draft only set up for failure that high of a pick, that why I asked what do people expect from him this year, from last weeks ultimate he jumped up 15 spots cause he hit a bomb off the center field batter eye

Expect: .290 25 HR 85 R 95 RBI 10 SB - I'll take this from 2nd Rd pick

Potential: .315 30 HR 85 R 110 RBI 20 SB - Becomes a 1st Rd pick next year. Joey Votto will have company

Hosmer is absolutely worthy of a 2nd round pick. I didn't take him there since I had 1-15 / 2-1 and picked Fielder/Kinsler, but middle 2nd round is well worth it, with better BA and more steal potential than Teixeira. You don't win or lose leagues with a pick that should go late 2nd, early 3rd, and you take him mid 2nd. Don't know why this subject deserves a thread.... Now Hanley and Cargo going #1 overall in 2 New York leagues deserves a thread!

Tell me how many other 1Bs will get more steals than him.

Pure hitter. He didn't miss a beat going to the majors and has major growth potential.

Gun to my head and you ask me who goes round one across the board in 2013 that did not in 2012 it would be hosmer, mcutchen, alex Gordon in that order.

Hosmer vs. Texiera ???

Hosmer: plenty of potential....but....very young player, bad team.
Texiera: has been putting up the numbers year after year. A lock for 30 HR and 100 RBI's playing in a stacked Yankees lineup.

Give me the seasoned vet.

If you feel that you can makeup 5-10 HR elsewhere then you take Hosmer over Teixiera. Better batting Avg and more SB. He was a better fit for how I wanted to build my teams. Not that it should matter much in that lineup, but he is hitting 5th this year

Bad team?

The pitching is sorry, but just think where the following players went in drafts this weekend (around the horn)....

Hosmer
Escobar
Moustakas
Gordon
Cain
Francouer
Butler

Their hitting is capable of scoring some runs this year. I like Tex and he will hit more HR's and a have a few more R and RBI's, but avg could be 40 points apart, and steals isn't even close.

Count me on the Hosmer bandwagon. At 19 overall, I had the Teixeira/Hosmer decision. Didn't really know how I'd react until on the clock. At heh end of the day, actually the 1:15, I pulled the trigger on Hosmer. Can't wait to see how it pans out.

I think you have to take chances to win any league let alone the overall's in the NFBC. Picking a safe potential team seems to lead to middle of the pack type finishes. The problem is the longer people play here the more they find that out. It quickly leads to players shooting up in drafts simply because everyone now knows you can't let players you want sit for too long. Which really just means the real value players are slipping down. Now you just have to be lucky enough to have them slip to your pick.

turns out I was lucky he "fell" to me at that spot....which I guess means I got "VALUE" :D

Andy/Dan I need to see some 2nd weekend teams. Sitting in the Miami airport over night and I was wondering where they were...

Seems like every year the second round is my biggest problem, alot of risky picks there this year IMO so at 18 I went with Tex. Plus he fits like a glove within my plan.
Well it isn't something I would hope for-------Kirk Gibson after getting hit in the face

In yesterday's Main Event, I had the 10 pick. The first nine picks were:

Hanley Ramirez
Matt Kemp
Albert Pujols
Ryan Braun
Miguel Cabrera
Jose Bautista
Troy Tulowitzki
Adrian Gonzalez
Ian Kinsler

My choice came down to Robinson Cano or Joey Votto. I went with Cano in the first round, because I was reasonably sure I could get Votto's equivalent (Hosmer) in the second round.

A well respected NFBC/NFFC owner went Hosmer at 17 in Main, but then he also took him at 1.07 in a XII.

1.07 kinda hurts the profit potential

I thought the team turned out pretty good even with pushing Hosmer there

Helps getting J.Upton at 2.06, if you flip flop him and Hosmer it looks a lot better.

Loving my Hosmer at 4.09 in a OC draft 2 weeks ago.
