Grade my Draft

Post by SouthSideSox » Sun Apr 01, 2012 7:11 pm

Hi Y'all. . .

Just finished a draft from the 12 spot of a 12 team league. . .wondering what you all think?

Thanks in advance for any advice. . .

Catchers -- Matt Wieters and Brian McCann
1st Base -- Mitch Moreland and Justin Smoak
2nd Base -- Brandon Phillips
3rd Base -- Edwin Encarnacion, Chipper Jones, and Chase Headley
Shortstop -- Marco Scutaro and Stephen Drew (Got him in round 28)
Outfield -- Colby Rasmus, Dexter Fowler (Round 22), Logan Morrison, Carlos Quentin, Drew Stubbs, Jason Bay (Round 27), Josh Reddick, and Jon Jay
Middle Infield --- Robinson Cano
Corner Infield -- Paul Goldschmidt
UTL -- Kendrys Morales

SP -- Felix Hernandez, Josh Beckett, Justin Verlander, Shaun Marcum, Josh Johnson, and Brandon McCarthy
RP -- Craig Kimbrel, Drew Storen, and Joe Nathan

I ended up with a plus draft score so overall not too bad I don't think, but let me know what you all think?

Thanks again!

offense gets eaten alive in a 12 teamer IMO

You will do very well on pitching, but I think you will struggle on offense. Can't be strong everywhere, but you look weak at the corners and outfield. Perhaps your middle infield and catchers will help compensate, but you may be short on power and steals. Still, if you dominate pitching and do average on hitting, you could have a chance. Love the Kendrys pick - my favorite sleeper this year. I grabbed him for all three of my slow draft teams. Good luck!

Agreed. Don't think you can even consider competing with those hitters.

Pitching looks fantastic.

don't think u have enough power. front end pitching is obviously impressive, however Philly could disappoint in the win column. everyone is hurt and they are being held together with bandaids. team defense will likely be worse than last year

also i wouldn't consider drafting harper or collmenter in a 15 team draft, let alone a 12 team. wasted roster slots IMO

no problem, but like i said, 12 team evals aren't my cup of tea. i don't like to blow smoke and just tell everyone they have a nice team. no sugarcoating. btw, the waiver wire is rich with guys who can help fix problems.

No problem. I asked because I wanted your honest opinion. I still think it will compete and will have just enough power. That is what I am worrying about though. I calculated right at 20 hr/player, which is close to where I need to be. I will probably pitch quite a few double starters to help with the wins and have enough great ERA and WHIP stats to support.

thanks again,
