That I could not agree more with. You would certainly think that for an $800 entry fee. In our first auction friday money an elderly gentlemen said, after a player got nominated for bid, "what position does he play?". Pretty sure he should not be in an $800 auction!! :-)

Listen, I don't want to keep arguing this, if I wanted to draft in NY I could, no one is forcing me to go to Vegas. I want to be in Vegas, it's where the best of the best are drafting -- if you have a problem with that, I'm sorry. I'm not using it as the excuse why my team might be lacking in an area or two in the Auction, I'm using as an excuse to say that ALL the leagues in Vegas are tougher than the other venues, and there's zero doubt in my mind and anyone else that drafts in Vegas that this is true -- I can get into easier leagues for the Online Championship, but for the live drafts I'd rather play against and try to beat the best.

Hey Cali, If you never drafted in NYC in the Auction. Take a look at the list of player in the $1300 Auction the last 3 years in NYC and tell me how much better the Vegas auction player are? Next year I'll be looking for you To show up in NYC and show us how it's done, because it so much easier than Vegas. P. S. Vegas Doesn"T have a $1300 Mixed Championship Auction League--Only in NYC.

And Vegas had a $5000 Auction, what exactly is your point?

ROY - Word was out that that any guy wearing those pants in the Mahwah "MTM" Super
had to be an easier mark in any of the NYC Auctions than anybody out in Vegas! :)

Good luck this week big fella, hope the drafts went well for you this past weekend.
Having done drafts on both coasts, there is no advantage in either venue. They are both
stacked with quality players. The NFBC brings out the best.

I guess that was an insult to the NY competition? :-) Not only is the Auction competition pretty fierce on the East Coast, we did have the overall Auction Champ from 2010 and 2011 drafting in NY. Also, if a draft has a weak link or two (which does happen) it does potentially offer value that may not have been expected (but that can certainly happen in any draft).
I'm not bashing the NY drafts, but the reason the 2010/2011 auction champ has come from NY is because the drafts aren't as strong, period. Why do you think people are flying back to Chicago/StLouis to draft and avoiding Las Vegas? It's not just to travel to the midwest, trust me.

Cali, you need to participate in a specific draft and "kick ass" before you have the privilege to degrade the participants. And even if you were to "kick ass", show a little class.

BTW, you were bashing NYC and Midwest drafts

here was the line-up for the sunday am vegas auction;

Las Vegas April 1 10 am PT League
1. Gregory Churchill, Victoria, British Columbia
2. Kevin Schiller, Marina del Rey, California
3. Dustin Wagner, Katy, Texas
4. Rob Kalupar, Hamilton, Ontario
5. Dale Morgan, Westerville, Ohio
6. Bobby Jurney, Dunkirk, Maryland
7. Aaron Smith, Wakefield, Rhode Island
8. Jon Stadtmueller, Little Rock, Arkansas
9. Ronny Mor, Newport Beach, California
10. Donald Warner, Wayzata, Minnesota
11. Ken Magner, Freehold, New Jersey
12. Jason Steeves, Calgary, Alberta
13. Dan Semsel, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio
14. Dallas Jones, Centennial, Colorado
15. Brady Bellis, Oakland, California

lindy sat in with team 11 throughout.

halfway into the auction i realized i had grossly under-estimated how cheap outfielders and corners would be selling for late. i made a critical strategic error completing my corners and outfield early. the strategy was the same i followed in the main event draft ( hitters and two premium starters first, starters 4-7 last ) on saturday, but i would have done better to keep my late roster options open in the auction.

the rogue waves;
c posey
c mesoraco
1b morales
3b encarnacion
1/3 goldschmidt
2b hill
ss a cabrera
2/s scutaro
o pence
o jennings
o ch young
o m cabrera
0 swisher
o ortiz

p shields
p latos
p worley
p nicasio
p cahill
p leake
p alvarez
p storen
p thornton

res. m pineda, h rodriguez, h bailey, g richards, s smith, r tejeda, j donaldson

you could call this squad 'well-balanced', or simply admit it is a bit mediocre :) next season i will bid more aggressively at the outset and be confident that the endgame will return several inexpensive regulars. unless i win...in that scenario, i'll make exactly the same mistakes in 2013.

Greg,
I liked a lot of your buys...Ency, Jennings, Asdrubal, Hill, Worley, Nicasio, Storen were all nice for the price. Love your overall hitting depth, but I would be worried about the overall pitching with the shaky closer situation (like Storen, but he is hurt; hate Thornton).

very true. i am counting on storen being 'hurt', but not 'injured'. at $10, i couldn't pass on the potential there. i think i covered him ok with hrod. we shall see. at $6, i was fine gambling on thornton. new manager, same excellent pitcher.

i drafted greinke in the main event 3:4, paid $29 for him in the n.l. auction, friday, and bid $27 for him on sunday. couldn't go to $29 however in a 15 team mixed. unfortunately, greinke was one of the last aces available. my fault. i should have nominated him right away and he would likely have cost $3 or $4 less. i am fine with shields at $18 and latos at $16, but was really after greinke/gonzalez. so yeah, i have a staff i have more settled on, than acquired.

WOW, this couldn't be farthest from the truth. I guaranty you ask any of the elite players who drafted in Vegas, they would agree that there are just as many great players in the east. KJ, Shawn, Lindy are elite and historic fantasy players.... but I think if they were to see this commentary, they would agree..... guys feel free to chime in... For your excuse for not having better teams or finishing higher in the money is that you compete against better players, that is just pure ignorance. Let me here it from their mouths...

Also, take a look at the Main Event league 5 and tell me you would have an easier time competing in that league than in any Vegas league....

Alright, alright, let it go. I apologize to any East Coast drafters I offended. It's just natural to feel that your location is toughest, I still believe Vegas is overall stronger than any of the other locations, but it's probably not to the extent that I may have made it out to seem. Maybe I'll draft in NYC one of these years to see how it is.

Why bitch at me here? Let your teams do the talking and kick my ass during the season.
