Cliff Lee - Arghhh!!!!

Post by Glenneration X » Sat Apr 21, 2012 6:14 pm

Cliff Lee, the ace for five of my teams including the Diamond and MtM Super, placed on the DL with an oblique strain. I didn't even know there was an issue?!? Oblique strain? How many weeks can we expect a pitcher to miss with that? :x

Toss in another surprise DL stint with merely a shoulder issue :? for Dan Hudson, my #2 in the MtM and some of my biggest league investments are looking an awful lot shakier than they already did.

Ahhh well, only a few months 'til football season, and a sport with less injuries. :?

Oh yeah, toss in the fact that both pitchers had a double start week on tap and it's just more icing on the crap-filled cake. :x

Lee seems to have this problem every year with his oblique. He missed the start of the 2010 season with it. Probably looking at 3 weeks.

I saw it might be a torn pectoral muscle. could be 2-4 months. can Oswalt be far behind.

Bad info. It has nothing to do with the pectoral

First weekend main event:
2nd rd - Cliff Lee
8th rd - Dan Hudson
10th rd - Brian Wilson
14th rd - Doug Fister

I took some risk with Wilson, but the other three were red-flag free --- feels like piling on at this point. After dropping Wilson last week, I'll still have six of seven bench players inactive. Time to rebuild!

Go for it, I might decide to punt W's & K's. If I do, you might want to save a few bucks to bid on Cliff, Dan and Doug. ;)

zero chance you will punt wins and k's as that would rule u out for the overall. i'm updating my bid amount as we speak. $100 each for top 3SP

The odds are significantly greater than zero.

In the meantime, ramp 'em up. Detwiler has looked like Cliff Lee ... better go at least $150 on him.

Serves the idiots right for letting him throw 10 innings at his age no less...I share your pain, Glenn, even though I don't have him on even one of my teams. Still have about 5 or 6 of my top five picks in most of my drafts who have been MIA to start the season. It can only get better...right?

Slow draft 32: I thought I would go against the grain and I took Lee at the end of round 1 instead of taking Halladay. Bad move. Lesson learned: never bet against Roy Halladay even at his advanced age.

try dealing with losing your 1st round pick - Jacoby Ellsbury - for about 2 months. Pitchers are much easier to replace at least... you can't replace that for that long

What if your first round pick was Ellsbury and second round pick was Cliff Lee?
Would you warn the major league team that has your third round pick to put a bubble around him?

Thing is --- Lee is almost as old as Halladay. It was apparently picking the wrong guy -- although it's a long season so we'll see which guy really was the right pick on Sept. 30th.
