Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
Henry Rodriquez was dropped in my main event league this week. It will be the only main event in which he is available. I guess I am surprised by the move.
Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
time to rev up the FAAB engine
Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league

The question is...how much would you pay for Kimbrel if he was on the waiver wire? Henry could be this year's Kimbrel. Go hard or go home

Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
of course he could continue to split opportunities with Lidge or lose any/most opps when/if Storen comes back for the second half of the season.
but keep trying to spike some bids..............even if this isn't your league

Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
i don't think we'll see mr storen throw another ball in the bigs this year
Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
Storen will be back sometime in mid June, NLT than All star Break. He is already out of a sling and doing range of motion exercises. He will start throwing in 10-14 days. He had a very minor/small bone chip removed, not invasive at all, considering normal elbow surgeries. anyone hurting for saves presently that drops him, will IMHO be making a mistake.Gekko wrote:i don't think we'll see mr storen throw another ball in the bigs this year

march 20...Nationals' general manager Mike Rizzo said Tuesday night that Drew Storen is feeling "typical pitching soreness" and dealing with strep throat.Outlaw wrote:Storen will be back sometime in mid June, NLT than All star Break. april 1...Drew Storen (elbow) threw off a mound Saturday with no issues.
april 3...Drew Storen (elbow) threw 25 pitches in a bullpen session Tuesday without incident. Storen said he "really let it go for the first time" and didn't feel any pain in his throwing arm.
april 3(later in the day)...Nationals placed RHP Drew Storen on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with a sore elbow.
april 11...Drew Storen had elbow surgery.
teams lie ALL the time. if HotRod has 20 saves by the time storen makes it back (still big if) with great ratios, storen ain't gonna sniff the closer role.

A Friend of mine is a coach a Double A Harrisburg, he says they expect Storen right around June 1. so while all the above is true and did happen and what was in print, what wasnt in print was they decided to get it done once they knew it was minor. They were looking at letting him pitch with it. Yes i have him on a few teams, and I'm not dropping him.
Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
since he is basically a 2 pitch pitcher (fastball/slider), i wonder if he will (1) be able to gas up to 95mph again (2) throw his slider with the same speed and frequency (34% last yearOutlaw wrote: A Friend of mine is a coach a Double A Harrisburg, he says they expect Storen right around June 1. so while all the above is true and did happen and what was in print, what wasnt in print was they decided to get it done once they knew it was minor. Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
Or maybe storen didn't actually feel pain during one bullPen session and then he did the next time. Just a crazy thought I had. But if storen is dropped in any of your leagues, I'd follow your gut and stay away from him.Gekko wrote:march 20...Nationals' general manager Mike Rizzo said Tuesday night that Drew Storen is feeling "typical pitching soreness" and dealing with strep throat.Outlaw wrote:Storen will be back sometime in mid June, NLT than All star Break. He had the elbow issue 1/2 of last season, just no one knew about it. See no reason once he is back and at his young age and mechanics he wont be 100% of what he was. The Nats will be in the Hunt and Storen is thier guy and he'll be out there every closing situtation once he is back. If others dont feel that way, by all means drop him as you have suggested he wont see the mound again this year and why hold a roster spot for him.
Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
tack on another save for hot rod!!
so much for splitting save opps with lidge

Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
if this is true, now i know why rumors were out there about the Nats looking to move storen. trying to unload damaged goodsOutlaw wrote: He had the elbow issue 1/2 of last season, just no one knew about it.
Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
the Nats love him and were never thinking of moving him...like you said rumors....No more than all the rumors and mis-information and specualtion I read here... but its all good... just like the 2 months of speculation on Albert and Prince this off season, no one and I mean no one saw the Angles and Tigers as players...Gekko wrote:if this is true, now i know why rumors were out there about the Nats looking to move storen. trying to unload damaged goodsOutlaw wrote: He had the elbow issue 1/2 of last season, just no one knew about it.
I have a few teams where i dont have storen and am hoping other owners drop him.. I'll glady spend some $$$ on a "potential" 25 saves down the stretch as the NATS battle for the division.
Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
i guess Rosenthal and others were reporting garbage last year thenOutlaw wrote: the Nats love him and were never thinking of moving him...

Re: Henry Rodriquez dropped in my main event league
btw, i happened to turn on the Nats game in the bottom of the 8th and stayed to watch hot rod in the 9th. first time i've seen him pitch. impressions based on small sample size...
devastating slider (when he can control it)
fastball that ranges from 98-101 (none of the marlins including stanton could square up on it)
struggles with command at times

Rosie and all of them do a good job summizing and speculating but at the end of the day, they are ALL no different than Weathman, sometimes right, sometimes wrong, 50/50. One thing in common with the a good weatherman is they all get paid pretty good to guess and speculate. I remember Rosie on national TV doing a Yankee game a few years back at the end of the season, saying 100% that AROD would opting out and was leaving the Yankees. I think it was a few weeks later AROD extened another 6 or so years, bad for the yanks, but good for ARODS bacnk account.

Looks like Lidge is buried in da coffin. Hot Rod gonna be putt'n up thos Kimbel numbers the rest of da way

Went for $329 (runner-up $262). Pretty solid pickup.

Washington Nationals RP Drew Storen (elbow) hopes to resume throwing at some point next week. He's been doing activities with medicine balls and has regained full range of motion in his elbow. "I'm ahead of schedule, I think," Storen said.

Of course this thread centers on FAAB value for some reason.
But I think your point is-Why is this allowed?
I guess Salas or Nunez and Strop were just too valuable to drop instead of a full time closer with 100 mph heat!
This was an obvious favor to someone. Should not of been allowed. Instead of total outrage from the league commissioners you get crickets. I know the feeling. Nothing to see here sir, move along. One of the reasons I shy away form spending any serious money at the nfbc. I actually had a hard time convincing myself to do a satellite league this year.
