All-Frustrating Fantasy Team

Much too KJ's dismay, another list - Players with great potential and not living up to it. In fact most are very productive, just not as good as we had hoped they would become.

C- Geovany Soto - After a 23-86-.285, Rookie of the Year season in 2008, many thought he would be one of the top catchers in the league, for years to come. But, he has been a huge disappointment and has put up a .150 BA so far in 2012

1B - Carlos Pena - Broke out for a 46-121 performance in 2007 and it appeared he might become one of the top HR hitters in the league, following it up with 31-102 and 39-100 in 2008 and 2009, but his batting average fell under .200 in 2010, and struck out once every three at bats for 4 straight seasons. I suppose Adam Dunn would be another potential guy for this list, the difference is, other than last year, you can pretty much count on 40 HR's every year from Dunn and you accept the fact that he strikes out a lot and has a low BA. Pena is a superb fielding 1st baseman, and is definitely worthy to be on your fantasy team... I just expected a lot more.

2B - Ricky Weeks - Coming into the league, he had the potential to be a 30-30 2nd baseman, but an injury plagued career has pretty much eliminated his steals. He is one of the worst fielding 2nd baseman in baseball history and has had one good year, where he played a full season, in 2010 where he put up a decent 29-83 line, only to give us another let down season in 2011.

3B - Ryan Zimmerman - The potential for a 30-100 line, every year, has only done it once, in 2009, and has been plagued by injuries. Maybe he eventually strings together a few solid seasons, but so far, he has been disappointing.

SS - Jhonny Peralta - Solid producer - Yes , Underrated - Yes. But, when he put up a 24-78-.295 line in 2005, out of nowhere, big things were expected of this guy, but he has since hit as little as 11 HR's in a season, and never more than the 24 HR's he hit in 2005. In 2011, he put up some good numbers again, and hopefully in 2012, he will finally breakout, or maybe he just remains a solid producing shortstop, which is fine... I just thought he might be something really special.

OF - Ryan Ludwick - Probably the king of this entire list - Breaking out with 37-113-104-.299 in 2008, many big things were expected of this guy, but his numbers have consistantly declined since 2008 and one has to wonder if there was something else going on. Is he just not that good or is he a huge disappointment?

OF - Alex Rios - Huge 30-30-.300 potential... Still waiting..... Wait for it..... It's coming..... this might be the year....

SP - Max Scherzer - He can strike out a lot of guys and be dominating. He can also be God awful. One of the most up and down pitchers in the league. And yes, I drafted him as my #2 pitcher in the Main... Thank God for blood pressure medication

SP - Eric Bedard - Injuries and more injuries.. If he could actually get a few full seasons in, he might be a dominant pitcher.

CL - Too many to mention...But with all of the craziness with closers this year, Carlos Marmol has the best "stuff" and the biggest potential, driving fantasy owners to drink over the past several years.

OK, so its a slow night, and live scoring is driving me crazy, and I was bored....

Besides Zimmerman (and even he was overvalued heading into draft dat), all the other guys on this list were high risk players. You should know what you are getting into when you buy each of these

I don't think he is necessarily talking about this year only.

I was talking about their entire career, their potential, their highs, and subsequent letdown seasons.
