Yes it was a hard call . I have him in 3 lgs . I did'nt play him even with 2 starts . Hard to face Boston then NY in one wk . Still i like that Leyland called the umps out . I have seen some very bad calls this year . Maybe they should be fined or something for bad calls .

What made the call so difficult to stomach is that the home plate umpire initially called him out. At that point the first base umpire got involved, this was NOT a checked swing call. No way he could see from where he was if the ball touched the ground. As replays clearly showed the ball never touched the ground. 4 hits and 3 runs later the inning ended when it should've been over on strike three. Very frustrating.

Re: nice called 3rd strike(or not)
I know that baseball doesn't want to use replay on every call, but wouldn't it have been easier for a replay official sitting in the booth to see the correct call and call down to the head umpire and tell him it was Strike Three? Wouldn't that have taken less time than the manager-umpire feud that took place after the bad call? And wouldn't the game have been better served if the right call had been made?Money wrote:What made the call so difficult to stomach is that the home plate umpire initially called him out. The leagues make this so tough on themselves. It was a tough call, but with one look at replay you could see the right call was a strikeout. One look from a replay official upstairs would have confirmed the strikeout and he could have called down in seconds and kept the game moving. There's no reason we can't have replay and do it more quickly in both MLB and the NFL. Technology is here and there are ways to use it more effectively. The game of baseball is NOT being best served with bad calls, manager-umpire feuds that take minutes to resolve, and the wrong teams winning because of these bad calls.
