king FELIX

Post by BK METS » Sun Jul 15, 2012 9:49 am

I am not a Mariner fan and I only have him on 1 of my 14 fantasy teams, so being objective, last nights pitching performance against the Texas Rangers, in my opinion, was the best I have seen this year. Yes there have been several no hitters and perfect games but this easily could have been a perfect game with a few bounces here or there. Really no hard hit balls. Only 3 outfield outs, 12ks, and 0 walks, 107 pitches, against the Rangers! He earned his name last night.

I am a Mariner fan and not so objective and so it should come as no surprise that I agree with you.

Pretty special night against the big bats. Not really even one very hard hit ball all night. Like you said, no walks, but even more impressive is that he only went to ball three once all evening. He could have gone two or three more innings easy, but the Ms offense was finally up to the task so he ony had to pitch nine. He is a great talent that gets up and performs for the big games.

You guys are sure going to miss him when he is gone! :(
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Rumblings of the "King" losing his dominance will be mute until next year. Yes he has lost some velocity on his fastball but he is probably the smartest pitcher in baseball and can even make the best hitting teams such as the Yankees and Rangers look lost. If this guy pitched in New York or just with a team that can hit a little, he would be Godlike. As it stands, he is the most dominate pitcher in baseball, bar none and despite his record, as usual, he has separated himself from the rest.

The team that can hit a little is here. I think next year you may see an explosion of Mariner bats. The young hitters are battling confidence issues right now, playing so many games against the best division in baseball (the American League West...but that is a separate discussion) and so many games in spacious Safeco Field. Already the Seagers, Jasos, Monteros, Carps, Saunders, et al, while much maligned in the east-coast biased media, are scoring the fourth-most road runs for any team in baseball. 2013 will see the boys a year older, better and more mature. 2013 will see 11% of their games against the worst team in baseball...the Astros. 2013 will see the outfield fences brought in at The Safe, ala NYM. Confidence will be the M's hitters friend, not their enemy. Watch out.

Yes it was the Rays, who love to get No Hit, but he didn't even break a sweat in his perfect game today. The most dominant pitcher in baseball and currently on a tear that is "Dickey" like.
