Greg Ambrosius wrote:Since Joe Berg fought so hard to get this format live in Las Vegas, we're going to honor him by calling it the Joe Berg Las Vegas 12-Team Super League. It doesn't have the ring of Mickey The Mouth New York Super League (aka MTM Super), but JB Las Vegas Super League works just fine!!

Joe is right, it's time to put names on paper and get this baby rolling. I need to officially add it to the Registration page, but let it be known that each year going forward this is going to be our Friday night marquee event. We'll start off with a 12-Team Super League and if demand warrants it this year or in future years we'll increase this to an Ultimate League and maybe one day even a 12-team Diamond League. I know Joe approves of all that!! :D

I know some of you folks are still tentative, so let me know if I'm overstepping my bounds. But it's time to see if we can fill this one up, so here's the opening signup list:

NFBC 12-Team Super League
Friday, March 22, 8 pm PT
Bellagio, Las Vegas
1. Joe Berg
2. Bob Particelli
3. Gaetan Lavoie
4. Jeff Dobies (tentative)
5. Glenn Lowy (tentative)
6. Stephen Jupinka
Friday night 12 team Super, I love it. :D I'll have to be on my best behavior during the day. ;)

I'l try to come up with a couple of "Draft Night" add ons to enhance what will already be a special evening. As far as the message board banter that comes with the MtM show, I think I'll leave that to the others!!

Thanks again for adding a 12 team Super Greg!!

Jupinka, these are the only such marks you're familiar with.

Mikey, what I want to know is how the hell do you know what Juprinka's underwear looks like?

Steve, I warned you to hide your suitcase from Massotto in Mahwah last year. :?

Quite simple, Glenn. I just uploaded the pic you sent me of them last year. You told me it was easy for you to get since you spend most of your time kissing his ass. :P

Yet another stellar example of what happens in Vegas should truly stay in Vegas! ;)

I believe these ridiculous, revolting pictures are MtM's way of saying he's jealous of the attention this event is receiving. Mickey, you named your own event, I didn't name this one. I love the fact you're participating and unlike most others, believe you can compete.

Stick to your MtM thread and let this one go for a while. Class and dignity will become the norm for the "Friday Night Marquee Event"!!

Hey, I thought I saw Magner and Christie were interested in this one. I promise you guys, its safe here and Mickey will be kept under control :P

When I'm done with this one, It will be "The Event" in Vegas!! 8-)

Uh oh, Joe you hitting the sauce again? :?

All Mickey back and forth aside and in all seriousness, I don't believe a payout's been announced yet for this event. What are we looking at Greg? I'd assume it'll be the same payout percentage as a 15 team Super, minus of course the cost for Mickey's flights, room, board, a contingency fund for the likelihood of bail, etc. All worthwhile costs to have an ummm errrrr....we'll call it "competitor" of his level on board.

Still, will we be paying out two or three spots and what would those prize amounts be?

Glenn,

It's Sunday night, of course I'm hitting the sauce. I just realized how you and the big time guys did a better job than me in the football pool. I have the right QB's for now, but the mix of other players are off. Oh well, next year.

My expectation for the payout is the same % payout as the other "Hall of Fame " events. Whatever the 15 team Super % payout is would be fair. As far as 2 or 3 payouts, I don't have a preference as long as the % payout is there.
Joe

Joey,
This is your show for sure. I'm just trying to keep these guys in their place. If I do make this happen, I am very much looking forward to it. I appreciate your persistence in getting it set up. Greg and Tom do enjoy when we make them more money. ;) See you in Vegas. :D

Magner and Christie would like in on this as well. Chip is helping the Governor in the 4pm Auction, so as long as James writes half the check his better half will be free to start the Joe Berg 12 Team Invitational. We are in.

Joe, if MTM is part of this, understand class and dignity go out the window. Unlike what you may think, Mikey becomes
The free space on the bingo card, the dead money at the table. He has great history in those $150 Satellite's, but when the big players like Jupinka and Lowy sit down at the same draft table as Massotto his game turns into a shrinking violet. Kinda like Mikey's history with the ladies.

Great cast, one and all. Jim, just write the check and tell Lorraine you will go straight back to your room after the Auction like the whipped husband you are. Send Chip back to assist and we will do you proud Big Fella. Plus, you IHOP Senior Discount types need to CATCH up on your sleep for the Main Event on Saturday.

The same payout percentage for the Super League gives us $26,000 in prize money. We will pay a higher percentage to 1st and 2nd place in the 12-team format because finishing 3rd out of 12 is easier than finishing 3rd out of 15 teams. So let's look at a couple of payouts:

1st - $17,000
2nd - $6,500
3rd - $2,500

1st - $20,000
2nd - $5,000
3rd - $1,000

1st - $18,000
2nd - $6,000
3rd - $2,000

Thoughts?

I like selling this as a high stakes shot at 20K. Don't feel you need to pay third money in an event with 12 teams, especially at a loss of $1500. However, with the second place team doubling there entry fee I could see the second prize structure as my top choice. I'd prefer. 20k / 6k as my choice, but no complaints with 20/5/1

That might be a first for me!! I could give a lot better answer in about 6 months. ;) Right now I'm happy we're moving forward and will let the others determine the payout. Really, I'm fine with any scenario. If we do pay third it should get its money back. I guess that's all I'd add. We don't pay third in the NFBC XII, so maybe you're right, it doesn't belong here.

I think it's pretty cool that Greg is allowing input on it from the league participants. Have at guys, whatever way you want to cut it up :D

I agree and like the idea of top 2 payout as we use in the Online Championship and the NFBC XII.

If I were to do this event, I agree that it should be this type of payout for the top two. However, given my inferior skills that would be matched up against the superior talent in this competition, I am severely doubting my ability to be able to compete at this level, especially given all that you have posted about me here. I will have to seriously reconsider and get back to you. ;)
