I've noticed a couple drafts where Teixeira isn't drafted among the first 6 rounds. Very nice value for anyone getting him in the 7th round.

What a start for the guy in the 2-hole - Ryan Braun and then Jose Bautista! Can't believe Joey Bats lasted until the 14th pick of the 2nd round. I would feel pretty good about drafting him with the 14th pick of the 1st round!

Would love to hear from this owner how he plans to make up points in the other five categories that he's ignored so far in the first six rounds...

Okay, not saying I would do this myself, but....

These DC's are a war of attrition as much as drafting better players.

I can see doing this IF the plan is to draft a whole ton of position players in the next several rounds - perhaps sticking a closer in, with the idea that he'll be healthier and make up lost points because everyone has injuries and he'll make up points that way -- then take a bunch of starters to stream.

Again, not applauding the strategy but in a DC, it is defensible.

Plus, maybe he's in multiple leagues and wants to try something new or different.

There is a rampant obsession with SPs in all the leagues I've drafted so far. Only a matter of time before we see 3 SPs within the first 12 spots of the first round.

Funny thing is, several owners who select a premium SP in the early going, are usually back at it again, typically investing a second pick on a SP not too long thereafter. And yet, so many sources argue that pitching has never been as reliable and abundant. I don't get it. Then again, no one who's spending money here is going to offer any explanation as to why.

All of which means, I totally get it.

And, further to making the above comment, I am now in a draft where:

Verlander went 1.4
Strasburg went 1.8
Kershaw at 1.11.

This is not the first time someone has taken this approach (see my post earlier in this thread). So now I'm wondering, is this starting to turn into a pattern? Are people starting to look at stud SPs as actually more reliable than early round hitters? And what does that do to the Tier 2 SPs, who would normally go in the 6th to 8th rounds? Do they become more valuable and move up a couple of rounds, or less valuable and move down?

6 15 Jonathan Papelbon MR

Thoughts?
This is not the first time someone has taken this approach (see my post earlier in this thread). So now I'm wondering, is this starting to turn into a pattern? Are people starting to look at stud SPs as actually more reliable than early round hitters? And what does that do to the Tier 2 SPs, who would normally go in the 6th to 8th rounds? Do they become more valuable and move up a couple of rounds, or less valuable and move down?
If you do this, you better be sure you get the right SPs. This team is going to still lose in WHIP and ERA

NFBC Draft Champions League
Round 1:

1 15 Stephen Strasburg SP
2 1 Justin Verlander SP
3 15 Cliff Lee SP
4 1 Joe Mauer C
5 15 Yadier Molina C
6 1 Roy Halladay SP

Yeah, like losing a league after six rounds of a draft. New strategy.

I'am in this draft and picking 13th, I did something I have never done; went SP/SP and the way pitching went off the board I'am happy I did. I went Strasburg/Kershaw. Of course, I then went 5 consecutive hitters, another SP and 2 more hitters.
