The 2nd Annual New York Metropolitan "MTM" LIVE Super Event
Re: The 2nd Annual New York Metropolitan "MTM" LIVE Super Ev
It looks like both Ante and Roy are signed up for the $1300 Auction and the MTM Super, and the fact of the matter is unless the MTM is pushed back to midnight there is no way to have that auction done in time for them to do both unless they have partners that are going to help them get both in. They are 2 different events basically at the same time so I'm not sure moving the event 1 hour makes a difference here or there.
and MIke I would love to stay in the city but as of now that's not an option for me, if I could do it I would in a heartbeat, let's see how you get this thing filled out first and then we will go from there.

Odds are at this point, we're not going to start the MTM any later than 6:30-7:00 in order to accommodate the owners who are registered for this without an auction conflict so as not to inconvenience them as well. A couple like yourself, are not staying in the city that night, and need to be done by like 10:30-11:00 at the latest, so just plan on being there accordingly. More details as I hear back.

OK folks, let's firm things up a bit. If you're listed as tentative please let me know if you're going to be in this league or not. If you're having a conflict with the $1,300 auction let me know what your plans are. Let's get this list firmed up and sell this baby out. Sound good?

Re: The 2nd Annual New York Metropolitan "MTM" LIVE Super Ev
I agree. The inaugural concept for this event was to make it a completely live, annual event for ongoing bragging rights and in the spirit of camaraderie that is generated by all the competitors being in the same room. Followed then afterward with a dinner in celebration of the social aspects of the game. That being said, this year is unique in that we are up against an early Easter holiday which has made for some tight scheduling and conflicts with the auctions being held earlier in the day. I believe this puts us at about 11 solid owners who are in for the festivities Friday night (late dinner and drinks to follow in NYC for all participants who are interested and who want to hear all of my Vegas stories from the previous weekendTom Kessenich wrote:OK folks, let's firm things up a bit. And now, some obligatory pictures of asses:

I apologize for that last one...don't know how that photo of Lowy and Magner got it there.

Tom, Due to the timing issue between the $1300 Auction And the MTM Super the overlap is going to be too large to do both league so drop me out of the Super. Roy

Re: The 2nd Annual New York Metropolitan "MTM" LIVE Super Ev
Okay guys, there HAS to be a solution to this MTM Super League here. We definitely have enough people who want to compete in this league, but it's obvious that we are up against a tight schedule on Friday night. We're trying to shoehorn this great league into a very, very tight schedule. You have the likes of Roy and Michael and a whole lot of other guys who want to do the auctions PLUS this league, but we're not giving them a workable solution on Good Friday. There's even a few past players who would do it, but the schedule isn't working out.
I have a possible solution that I'll discuss with Tom and Mike today. I don't know if it will work, but let's see what we can do. We definitely want this to be an annual stand-alone event and we better figure this out now so that we can set this date and time aside every year going forward. We LOVE having the MTM Super in New York City, so let's get it right.
Most of these participants are competing in the Main Event on Saturday afternoon, aren't they?

I know Ante and Joe Thelen can't do Saturday night but what about everyone else. We have someone willing to join the league if we schedule it for Saturday night at 7 pm ET. Let us know here or email me at [email protected].

Re: The 2nd Annual New York Metropolitan "MTM" LIVE Super Ev
I have gotten one inquiry about Saturday night, but I fear at this point this may become a matter of taking one step forward and two steps back if we move it to Saturday night with Easter Sunday being the next morning. I'm not sure how many people will stay in the city late Saturday night or will be able to change hotel reservations, travel, etc. Perhaps it would just be easier to round up four more owners over the next four weeks for Friday night as planned. I'm open to anything, but I don't want to lose the core of players from the inaugural last season. Can you send an email to all the committed owners about Saturday, or would you like me to do it? I believe either way, Jupinka would need to make arrangements to do it over the phone, but maybe there's a chance he can be there live Saturday. I don't know. Whatever the case, this is going to take some serious finagling.Tom Kessenich wrote:I know Ante and Joe Thelen can't do Saturday night but what about everyone else. I'll start a new list here for Saturday night. This isn't definite yet but if we get 15 who all can draft on Saturday that's the way we'll go. Again please post here or email me if you can do this on Saturday night.

Re: The 2nd Annual New York Metropolitan "MTM" LIVE Super Ev
I'm not trying to implode the league. If we think that the only way to host this one this year is Friday night, then let's see what we can do about starting the auction a little bit earlier and the Super a little bit later. But I agree with Michael, anything later than 7:30 probably pushes this to a midnight finish with the Main Event at 1 pm the next day. It also reduces the amount of time to have a few beers after.Baseball Furies wrote:I have gotten one inquiry about Saturday night, but I fear at this point this may become a matter of taking one step forward and two steps back if we move it to Saturday night with Easter Sunday being the next morning. If Saturday Night in the City is too much before Easter, then I certainly understand. I'm just saying that we have a good group here and before everyone bows out, let's see what options there are. We have people emailing us to say NO to this day and NO to that date. Let's just discuss the options and again if Friday is the only night we can do it with Roy and Ante also in the auction, then let's try to work around that. We're at 13 already and we have a month to find two more owners. We can probably make it happen either way, but let's poll the owners and probably via email. Tom can do that.

Agree completely on the thoughts about Saturday night. I have a hard time believing with Easter the next day that Saturday evening is going to be a viable option. I know people are all just looking for solutions here but to me Sat night discussion just takes us off task. I would much rather double down on Friday and either look to juggle times or open it up to a phone signup or two. I am not advocating the phone signup to avoid travel on my end. I actually want to come up and do a live event and meet some guys in NY I have gotten to know "online" through the years.
Anyone out there reading this on the fence? Anyone out there saying the minute they open this up to online/phone I would sign up in a minute?

Okay, let's get back on topic then and solve Friday night. I was just inquiring about Saturday night to make this MTM special again. Let's get back to Friday night and solving that for all 15 owners.
We can get to 15 owners, even as you say Kent that 1 or 2 are hooked into this one. It's the fun draft and the competition during the season that matters here. Thanks all.

It hink you still have Ante on the list.
MtM,
We did a super for football with two on phone and it worked fine..so if you gotta go that route..I think its worthwhile to pursue..assumign you cant get the live people.

Re: The 2nd Annual New York Metropolitan "MTM" LIVE Super Ev
I think that the only way this will actually help is if we push up the start time on the auction prior to like 4:00. This way there may be a chance that Ante and/or Roy might be able to swing the MTM with a co-owner assisting on one end or the other. Otherwise, I don't think it will make much of a difference. Other than Jupinka, I really don't want to have people hooked in by phone on this thing if we can avoid it. Given the extensive list of competitors coming in the night before for the Main Events the next day, I have to believe that there are a few that would want to jump into this one if you reach out to them. Keep us all posted. Thanks, Tom.Tom Kessenich wrote:Keep in mind we can push the start time back to 7 pm ET for this league. So if that helps people out let me know.

I'm reaching out to the $1,300 auction guys to see if they're OK moving the start time back to 4 pm for that league. If all 15 agree to the switch we'll do that and move the Super back to 7 pm. Hopefully that will help everything work better for all involved. Again, I'm only moving the auction back to 4 pm if all 15 owners agree to it. I'll keep you posted.

Tom,
Not to be a Debbie Downer but that will leave very little time for a break for those of us doing the 10AM Auction and the 5PM Auction. I'm sorry to MTM and his group but I would not be in favor of moving the %PM to 4PM. Sorry.

Thanks for the feedback Jeff and I understand. That was my concern as well which is why I've been reluctant to do this. If you change your mind on this just let me know but we'll keep the league at 5 pm as it has been scheduled.ALL-IN JD wrote:Tom,

OK, I'm gonna put someone to work to sit with Ante to help him make his picks in the Super while he's doing the $1,300 Auction. That will enable him to take part in both leagues. So Ante's back in and we're down to 3 spots left.

Once again, Juprinka demanding and receiving "special treatment". Lord only knows what unspeakable skeletons he knows about in Greg, Tom, and especially MtM's closet.Baseball Furies wrote: Other than Jupinka, I really don't want to have people hooked in by phone on this thing if we can avoid it.

In this photo: Greg, Tom, and MtM cruising the strip after last year's viewing party.

One guess as to which one-time NFBC Overall Champ who shall remain nameless secretly took this picture and mailed it to each of them with his list of demands.....
