ADP lists

Post by CaptainCrunch » Sun Mar 17, 2013 5:38 am

Would it be possible to have someone at STATS review how they generate their adp lists? How can a list that clearly includes 15-team drafts (max pick = 450) have only 428 names? This is currently the case with the list of 35 live drafts since March 1. This list should have at least 450 names, and in fact should probably have at least 500. If the list generation is suspect, it makes me wonder about the math as well.

Thanks.

if i am not mistaken, I think a particular player has to be drafted at least 5 times (at least that is what i saw with the slow drafts) before he shows up on the ADP report. In looking aat the current live, after march 1 drafts, the 35 drafts have the lowest player at 8 now. So there may be some differences on when a player shows up depending on how you filter ADP. Maybe Greg/Tom can clarify the paremeters used for us.

This listing mainly includes the 12-team results since March 1st from the Online Championship and satellite leagues. That may explain why you're not seeing 450+ players. 12 x 30 rounds = 360 players.

I trust the ADP data is correct.

We've had requests to splice and dice this data even moreso for players, but that's not the goal of having this ADP data available. As I've said before, in the past there were web sites that sold subscriptions to this kind of draft data and we didn't feel that was right. We felt the players who were competing in these leagues deserved the data since they were the ones generating the data. So only 2013 members get to see this ADP data. We've broken it up slightly to help you folks, but our goal isn't to do the draft work for everyone, just to provide what is rightly yours.

The ADP data has in turn become great content for some industry partners we work with, from SiriusXM Fantasy Sports to BaseballHQ.com and others. We know we could make it even more timely for them and you, but at this time we feel it's doing what it should be doing: Putting the results in your hands and not in the hands of people who wanted to sell it to you before. Good luck everyone.

Outlaw:

That could certainly explain it.

If this is the case, perhaps a note explaining this qualification (i.e minimum number of times drafted) could be added to the blurb at the top of the web page displaying the lists.

Thanks for the reply.
