Kyuji Fujikawa looked very shaky in the 8th inning too. I'm thinking I may want to hold onto Cubs' outfielder David DeJesus after all. At the rate things are going, DeJesus might even get a shot at the ninth inning one of these days!

To whom?

You obviously didn't take a peek at Fuji's line tonight.

James Russell, baby!

'Showcasing a Player'-
Putting a mediocre player in a position of power. Examples would be near the top of the order, starting a big game, or closing.
If successful, the player could be made to look better than his past.
If not successful, the player becomes even less appealing, leaving little recourse to the team. A release or demotion is the usual solution.

The Cubs have little choice now.

Sveum stated that he's going to look into other options, though Fuji was not one of the options mentioned.
Bottom line is it appears that Sveum's had it with Marmol.....as has his fantasy owners.

Funny thing. I was watching the game (naturally). Marmol is on a short leash because of his past issues, but last night, the two pitches the brothers Upton caught were both pretty good pitches. Both were mid-90's fastballs, though Justin's was belt high. Marmol may lose his job and I have not seen Fujikawa pitch much, but last night Fujikawa was chewed up and spit out by the back end of the Braves line-up and bench.

A close game on Sunday will be very interesting for the Cubs fans to see who gets the rock in the ninth.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I took him in round 24 of a 12 teamer, figuring "hey, if he throws strikes, they generally can't hit him!"

Well, a week later he didn't throw strikes and blew saves. When he did throw strikes they tattooed him over the fence.

Good riddance, and thanks for the bump in ERA and WHIP you piece of monkey s**t! :

But I did get a save......

More Marmol magic.

It is gross negligence to give him the ball in the 9th.

Doesn't make any sense to bring him into that game. Why not James Russell? He has been lights out.

And after the Marmol fiasco, he brings in a 6-era re-tread for the save, which he barely got, over a so-far dominant young pitcher.

Swayumm is managing like a cliche, I am underwhelmed. No idea why this organization does not respect Ryne Sandberg, who will probably be as good a big league manager as he was a second basemen.

Votto was like 1 for 13 against Marmol in his career, and looked terrible against him last night. That at least explains why he would pitch to Votto. Why he would stay in after Votto, I have no idea.

If you own and start Marmol, you've already given up.

Thanks for the donation.
