FAAB - Tony Cingrani
Anyone place Fernandez type bids this week?
Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
Nope, cant jsutify that type of money for someone who might get 2-3 mroe starts until cueto is back... Dusty does not like rookies...

Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
I managed to grab him for a couple teams. I was second bid on quite a few others.

Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
Really surprised that he went for 300+ in a bunch of leagues. I didn't see that coming. Guess I should have.
Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
I bid pretty aggressively and got him in a few leagues. K rate plus Leake is horrendous so I'm betting he can stick. We'll see...
Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
$400-$550 in many leagues... big gamble to see if he sticks in the majors, but .. I grabbed him in one weak pitching league for $284, other than that, he went way too high.
Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
went for 81 in my league, which beat our bid of 9 dollars, Mujica went for 179 , seems people bid with some semblance of sanity at least in our league

I'm sure that those who bid in the 100's or less felt your bid was too high as well.BK METS wrote:$400-$550 in many leagues... big gamble to see if he sticks in the majors, but .. I grabbed him in one weak pitching league for $284, other than that, he went way too high.

He'll stick and if not, I feel he was worth the gamble at the price I paid. I guess everyone feels that way about all their bids.

$391 was the highest I saw, I'm sure there was a monster bid or two out there.

True... I guess $284 is a pretty high bid...Glenneration X wrote:I'm sure that those who bid in the 100's or less felt your bid was too high as well.BK METS wrote:$400-$550 in many leagues... big gamble to see if he sticks in the majors, but .. Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
Bid $178 and $122 in two leagues and won him in both. A little nervous about Dusty, and that he may only be good for 5-6 innings per start, but I hadn't spent much FAAB in either league and the potential upside was too good to pass up. Will be interesting to see how he pans out.

Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
It all depends on your valuation of the player right? I think the gregarious bids are crazy...the guy has never hit an ounce at any level...know as pure glove only...I guess 2 hr will drive anyone up. Then again better to take a shot on these guys in april than july...at least you get the potential of 5+ months of return.
Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
I was shocked Cingrani didn't go for more. I got him, and drastically overpaid. Where was the Vickory system in this instance! ![Embarrassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)
I mean, I realize he may not start long-term, and this could only be for a few starts. But, really -- Mike Leake? Really? We've seen that movie before, and know how it ends (i.e., badly).
I bid big on him because I haven't seen minor league numbers and a video-game like progression of stats like that ... since, well, probably since Matt Moore was powering through the minors. I get it that the scouts say he hasn't got a 3rd pitch etc. etc. And the playing time issue.
But really -- doesn't anyone remember Dusty Baker with Mark Prior? Dusty likes his new, shinny Toys -- especially when they can strike guys out. Blew a wad of cash on Cingrani, but I thought it was worth it.
Time will tell! Enjoy!

Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
I picked him up for $333, RU bid was $263. I needed the SP and thought his upside made it worth the risk. Another couple goods starts and I do think he will supplant Leake as the Reds #5. Good starts on that team = wins. My biggest concern with him is he uses the heat all the time, which doesn't work on the ML level. If he can maintain his command with other pitches, he could have success.

Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
I kept the bids in check. I did land him on my Auction team for $227. Young Lefties don't come as fast as the Righthanders.
I'm guessing this has something to do with repeating the lefty delivery. I felt he looked awkward, but brings serious gas.
Sure hope it works out, but I was much more impressed with Jose Fernandez. The added issue is that the Marlins are awful and the Reds look like they are on there way to a solid season. What happens when Cueto returns?
I paid the $227 and got lucky to land him, but I'm hoping it doesn't come back to bite me. Hope to get some K's out of
the young lefty!

Looking better than Mr. Fernandez at least (and much cheaper). ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)

Re: FAAB - Tony Cingrani
It was a solo shot. Soriano tapped into his younger self and stole 2nd & 3rd before scoring on a sacrifice fly. Let's just hope it was Corky Miller's weak arm rather than Cingrani's ability to hold runners.ALL-IN JD wrote:2 Run homer from Babe Ruth, Cody Ransom!!![]()

Now Ransom's homer....nice opposite field shot. Outlaw, is he on the Biogenesis list??

It was Cingrani's long delivery. I'm watching the game.Glenneration X wrote:It was a solo shot. Soriano tapped into his younger self and stole 2nd & 3rd before scoring on a sacrifice fly. So am I. Nice pickoff move last inning bodes well for doing a bit better holding runners on.The Mighty Men wrote:It was Cingrani's long delivery. I think the kid looks good tonight. Another minor league team he's facing, but he definitively looks better this start than last.
