Lawrie and Hosmer- Duds?

Post by Outlaw » Wed May 29, 2013 10:06 am

Both from Can't miss Studs to most likely Duds IMO. 6 HRS, 27 RBI .230 avg between the both of them after 315 AB's. Overbay alone has outperformed them both in 1/2 the AB's. Both also in 2 of the better lineups too this year. Lawrie especially does not have it and I'm talking the Smart part. What other recent Cant miss Duds do they compare to?

Didn't understand why Hosmer was ranked so high this year. It's almost impossible to be a 20-25 HR guy when you hit 55%+ of your balls on the ground. He needs to retool his swing.

Royals are a complete disaster. I was an optimist the last few years as they built the system with cant miss arms and position players. Unfortunately they all were misses. Horrible development. They put up the worst at bats of any team. Just a dumb team that has little competitive drive at this point. Hosmer is the epitome of their problems along with Mous. Dough and others I debated a while back were correct. They will always suck.

I bit on Hosmer, knowing the GB rate, but banking on development. Such a dummy...Chris Davis went 13 picks later...Dooooh!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

adam jones is/was pretty close on the gb/fb % but 1) he is older 2) he was trending just slightly in the right direction 3) he plays in a much better park/division for homers. I tend to be a formula player and now I try to avoid the high gb guys if looking for homers so I will miss on adam jones types ( who I notice many good players drafted this year- so I need to maybe look deeper). I will, however, be able to avoid the hosmers and heywards who, at least to me, profile very closely to jones.

They won't always suck, Chad. But they will until they have a change at the top of the food chain.
Rumors are that Ned Yost is close to possibly losing his job. This would be like throwing a deck chair off the Titanic to save the ship.
Dayton Moore has to go.
But ridding a team of a bad GM is like trying to get a bad politician (aren't they all? ) out of office.

I'd like to point out that Alex Gordon was a can't miss prospect who disappointed for a couple years before he started to click. Hosmer and Moose will figure it out and I believe will be above average major leaguers. Moose has a higher ceiling because of his power and he's a 3rd baseman vs. Hosmer who will have to hit for much more power to be a fantasy relevant 1st baseman. At his best maybe he's Sean Casey or Mark Grace but obviously he has a long way to go. I'm not sure who their coaches and development people are but their failing miserably as I believe both players are much better than this. Fire Yost and his coaches and give these guys a fresh perspective. Just one mans opinion. The Royals are a team and franchise on the rise and I look for better results from them going forward. Good luck to everyone.

And trust the man who hired Yost and his coaches to hire that fresh perspective, yet again?
The Royals have to slay the dragon, not the offspring.
Until then, Loserville.

Don't forget about Heyward! He looks like a uncoordinated guy in high school trying to play basketball but can't. Oh my gosh is he a waste. Ike Davis, Espinosa, Moustakas?
Biggest bust pick per draft slot = Heyward
This is my last year playing, or watching baseball. I've had enough. These guys making 5 million a year to suck? And I'm wasting my time playing this game hoping they don't suck so I can win my league? P*ss on it!
I know I'm not good at this, but I'm just sick of baseball period.
And you know what........I paid for this league so shut your mouth if you don't like it if I take a week or two and don't make one da*n move.

Really? I thought politicians were all honest and forthright? I thought they were pillars of hope and trust. You mean they are really corrupt, dirty, filthy, full of treason, and liars? Thanks for the update! They don't make decisions to help us common folk; they make decisions for more power, their masters, etc.

Well, alright there funny guy! I had a bad day outside of baseball and in baseball, but my remarks make me a yahoo? LOL! That's even more funny! Heyward has not shown me much since he went pro. Maybe he'll end up being Hank Aaron or Rob Deer....I don't know which. Either way, I'm too old to worry about arguing over it!

Hey look! Does anyone have Miggy and Davis? They better win this thing if they do. Davis probably will hit 60 this year. Miggy might get .400 BA. Or is that a yahoo remark too?

Trout has 56 non-pop-up FBs so far this year. Hosmer has 28.
