ADP - Hitters

Post by JohnP » Sat Jul 06, 2013 10:33 am

Just over half way through the marathon. I decided to review the first three rounds of ADP as it pertains to the hitters. I used the ADP listed on this site for the drafts after March 1.

Round 1:

Miggy .361 / 65 / 26 / 86 / 2
Trout .314 / 57/ 13 / 55 / 20
Braun .304 / 30 / 9 / 36 / 4
Cano .292 / 50 / 20 / 57 / 5
Kemp .254 / 29 / 4 / 24 / 9
McCutchen .298 / 53 / 9 / 45 / 18
Votto .325 / 59 / 15 / 40 / 3
Cargo .295 / 65 / 23 / 62 / 15
Pujols .244 / 42 / 13 / 49 / 0
Fielder .267 / 43 / 14 / 65 / 0
Tulo .347 / 41 / 16 / 51 / 0
Stanton .244 / 19 / 8 / 22 / 1
Harper .260 / 31 / 13 / 25 / 3

Round 2:

J Upton .248 / 53 / 15 / 38 / 6
Hamilton .227 / 45 / 11 / 31 / 2
Bautista .267 / 59 / 20 / 52 / 6
Posey .310 / 34 / 12 / 48 / 1
Longoria .295 / 53 / 17 / 49 / 0
Beltre .307 / 49 / 17 / 46 / 0
Heyward .225 / 31 / 6 / 17 / 1
Pedroia .323 / 53 / 5 / 49 / 13
Wright .305 / 47 / 13 / 43 / 14
A Jones .287 / 57 / 15 / 59 / 9
Encarnacion .269 / 54 / 23 / 66 / 3
Kinsler .283 / 35 / 8 / 31 / 4

Round 3:

Cespedes .221 / 45 / 15 / 42 / 2
A Gonzalez .300 / 33 / 13 / 53 / 0
S Castro .236 / 39 / 4 / 26 / 7
R Zimmerman .277 / 37 / 9 / 44 / 4
Ellsbury .302 / 54 / 2 / 30 / 34
Bruce .272 / 47 / 18 / 56 / 2
BJ Upton .172 / 20 / 8 / 19 / 7
Goldschmidt .304 / 54 / 20 / 71 / 8
Butler .278 / 27 / 6 / 46 / 0
Desmond .281 / 39 / 15 / 49 / 10

Taking out the guys that have missed about half their games or more (stanton and reyes) we end up with the following average stat lines per round:

Round 1: .297 / 47 / 15 / 50 / 7
Round 2: .279 / 49 / 14 / 44 / 5
Round 3: .264 / 40 / 11 / 44 / 7

Not sure what good this info is....just interesting I suppose. For me (too much of an ADP guy)...this supports that I need to trend towards Doughboy's "screw ADP" approach.

I found myself super surprised at some of the stats of these hitters. I don't have many of these hitters and just don't follow them as closely as others:

Fielder - thought he had a higher average. I pegged him as a .300 guy.
Kemp - yuk.
Harper - I know he has been hurt....thought his numbers were better.
J Upton - BJ is wearing off on him.
Heyward - seriously he only has 17 rbi?
Pedroia - are you kidding me? 49 rbi? I missed the boat on him this year. What a first half.
Longoria - finally!
A Jones - I don't think I have ever had this guy on one of my teams. Seems so boring. I am the dumb one. Solid again.
Cespedes - on the struggle bus in two cats.
Castro - what is up with this kid? Did you see him get picked off yesterday? Mental midget.
Goldy - wow.

Pretty cool and thanks for running these numbers!

I have to say that Kemp, Stanton, Hamilton, Heyward and Castro are obviously VERY surprising down guys. I was very high on all of them going into the year and expected great things. Being a Cubs fan, Castro can DRIVE YOU NUTS! I drafted him in 2 of my 3 leagues and I can't hardly look at his numbers.

Its cool to see Miggy & Davis go back and forth with great numbers! Good for baseball.

I also love seeing Longo doing good, great young player finally doing it again.

Adam Jones... well I love the guy. This is the last year I will have him in the 6th Rd of my Keeper League and I am guessing I won't be able to draft him in the 6th Rd again next year for another 3 year run!

Again, great job on putting these numbers together, very fun! Be interesting to see the pitchers now! ;)
