This is why the Mets skipped Harvey’s Sunday start so that he could start the All-Star Game in New York. It was a pure business decision. Baseball is a business.

Despite the SI Cover story two months ago, or the ESPN photo shoot, or the 2.35 era; Harvey is still just a name to many casual fans. This one start, in an exhibition game, will really put a face to the name that no 5-1 victory in a Sunday start would have done. This kind of marketing cannot be bought. This one guy could sell a lot of tickets/jerseys/everything else that goes with it for the Mets.

David Wright is still the ‘face’ of the Mets; but after tonight, especially is Harvey does well, he will have to share that mantel.

I saw a similar episode a couple years ago with Danny Woodhead in a sports store in Boston. He was conversing with people as they shopped in the store and trying to sell them a Danny Woodhead jersey. Hilarious.

BTW, I believe that's Jimmy Fallon.

Great spot with Jimmy FALLON! A few more years and that wouldn't happen in any city in America, let alone New York.

Not sure why everyone in the New York media (except Mike Francesca, ironically) had an issue regarding Matt Harvey being skipped in his start over the weekend. I am sure some of it had to do with him pitching in the all star game, but the guy's innings are going to be limited anyways, he was coming off a start where he had a pretty deep blister, where a few extra days off would help, and yes, the all star game at Citi Field probably had an effect. But, if he pitched Saturday, as originally scheduled, his throw day would have been Tuesday anyways, so he could have still started. I had no problem with the move.

He pitched pretty well, getting 6 straight outs and 3Ks, after the Trout leadoff double and the takeout of Robinson Cano.
