Where are they now?

Post by bjoak » Mon May 15, 2006 4:39 pm

If the draft were to be held today, who would be some of the movers and shakers compared to where they originally went? I'll throw a few names out there. What round would they go in now?

Cole Hamels

Jimmy Rollins

Bobby Abreu

Jason Bay

Marcus Giles

Richie Sexson

Xavier Nady

Nick Swisher

Brian McCann

Johnny Gomes

Chris Shelton

Greg Maddux

Tom Glavine

Jim Thome

Scott Kazmir

Felix Hernandez

All I can say is...

I took too much flak for drafting Pujols at #1 over A-Rod...and did so with much confidence. Where are the haters now?

I also regret taking one of my favorite players in Thome...I totally forgot about him at the draft.

~Lance I think a lot of people valued Pujols higher (I did) but took A-rod anyway because of his position and because he was a better bet in stolen bases. Though the overall value is lower, the concern is that there won't be a good SB guy by the end of 2 when you come back up. And A-rod is still a better health bet. Of course, there is no denying that you were right under any circumstances. GL.

Please explain better health bet.

Show me the trend toward A-Rod stealing more bases.

I was willing to bet real money that Pujols would out stat A-Rod in 4 of 5 categories.

I even think there's a chance he out steals him!

A-Rod has always been a me-type...I like the team_types...and that's Pujols.

There's another thing called age...but you can all go ahead and grab pudge A-rod.

I picked 2nd and couldnt sleep the night before hoping I would land Pujols..Hands down the best in the game...as soon as I got to the draft the 1st thing I did was seek out the team with pick # 1 to find who he was taking..when he said Arod my day was already made...this coming from a Yankee fan..All Hail Prince Albert!!
Sometimes I'm good and sometimes I'm bad....but I always try real hard.

~Lance Why are you getting so defensive? I already said you were right. If you don't know aout Pujol's health prolems I'm not going to tell you. It's not like this stuff isn't pulic knowledge.

Trend: look at A-rods steals by month last year. See again, Pujols health prolems.

As much as I would agree with drafting Pujols #1 over A-Rod, most of us prefer to keep silent about our great picks until the very end of the season.

In one blink of an eye the DL can ruin all your hopes and dreams. This comp is really a war of attrition. A painful one at that.

Sportsbettingman, nice call on Pujols.I had 2 number 1 picks,nu 1 in the main event vegas 3,and the nu 1 pick in the ultimate.I thought of splitting them , but then because of position like Bjoak said , and the extra steals i went Arod.22 of the 25 nfbc leagues took arod , you , walla , and who was the 3rd guy.Im sure Arod will come along, but Puljos has been amazing, nice call sportsyoutheman.
