Post by Tom Kessenich » Mon Jul 31, 2006 2:36 am

Congratulations to Ballfour in Las Vegas League 9 for topping the NFBC field last week with 2,751.5 points.

A huge week from Troy Glaus (.565, 8 RBIs) led the way offensively for Ballfour. Carlos Lee (.458), Chase Utley (.441-5-11-2) and Jason Bay (.400-2-3) also delivered big weeks at the plate. Greg Maddux and John Lackey won 2 games each while Cole Hammels fanned 19 and Bobby Jenks recorded a pair of saves.

For finishing first last week, Ballfour wins a Chris Burke NLDS Limited Edition 16x20 Photo courtesy of Tri-Star Productions. Congratulations again to Ballfour and good luck to everyone in the NFBC this week.

Ballfour Wins Week 17 Prize

Chase Utley has been one of the most exciting stories of the 2006 baseball season. He’s definitely getting plenty of love from Rich Bales this week in the NFBC.

Thanks in large part to a huge week from Utley, Bales’ Ballfour team in Las Vegas League 9 topped the NFBC field last week with 2,751.5 points.

Utley hit a robust .441-5-11-2, providing Bales’ team with terrific five-category production. Troy Glaus (.565, 8 RBIs) also stepped up offensively while Carlos Lee (.458), Chase Utley (.441-5-11-2) and Jason Bay (.400-2-3) also delivered big weeks at the plate. Greg Maddux and John Lackey won 2 games each while Cole Hammels fanned 19 and Bobby Jenks recorded a pair of saves.

“I was out of town most of the week and was very surprised to see I had won the weekly prize,” said Bales, a 47-year-old tradesman in Lincoln, NE. “Chase Utley’s hot hitting carried me as much as anything. On the pitching end I was really shocked as I left a couple of really good starts (Juan Cruz and Tom Gorzelanny) on the bench.

“I guess when you’re having a lucky week you’re having a lucky week. What can I say?”

For finishing first last week, Bales wins a Chris Burke NLDS Limited Edition 16x20 Photo courtesy of Tri-Star Productions.
