So, after four great starts in pitcher friendly ballparks, Jesse Chavez looked human again vs the Astros in Houston last week.

Can you blame anyone for leaving him on the bench @Tex tonight?
Seven innings later, 8 strikeouts 1 hit and 1 walk.

At least I didn't panic and drop him.

This may come more under the heading of "Over Thinking"

2 weeks back KRod pitched 4 out of 5 days, recording 3 consecutive saves on Fri-Sat-Sunday.
I was running 3 closers out there and wanted to bulk up on an a extra win or 2, not to mention the K's.

So last week I benched him, thinking that they would need to rest him on Monday and that they had a day off, I believe, on Tuesday.
So marches in and record saves on M-W-F.

My replacement starter didn't do anything worthwhile.

So while I got lucky and drafted him on both my teams, avoiding a big FAAB (even a blind squirrel finds an acorn no and then), I was just plain dumb and should have rode him until he or the Brewers faltered.

Oh well.

Yep, you busted me on Harang. I didn't want to sound too pathetic so I left that part out. Shoulda started Chavez not Harang.

Whenever I think Boston or Texas will destroy my SP and I sit him , they always seem to pitch a gem. Then when I tell myself that and start them, they get destroyed.

Yep, you busted me on Harang. I didn't want to sound too pathetic so I left that part out. Shoulda started Chavez not Harang.

Nah. I doubt too many would have ANY problem starting Harang, especially the way he is/was pitching, especially in that park, especially against Miami.

While Miami was a very favorable matchup last year, it does not seem like that is the case any more. Strangely, although I haven't looked at the numbers, Miami seems to be scoring a lot of runs at home, in their cavernous park. Less so on the road (again, just my impression).

Meanwhile, I am not sure folks should be that scared about starting guys pitching at Texas. With Kinsler gone, Profar hurt, Fielder slumping, Beltre hurt/slumping, they do not seem nearly as formidable, at least so far. Also, at some of these hitter parks, the balls really start flying out when the weather heats up, and not necessarily in April/May. I didn't really have a lot of options, but I started Chavez at Texas yesterday and did so rather confidently. Of course, all this could change in a week or two .... Lately, my pitchers have had trouble with the Angels, either home or on the road, and I am trying to stay away far from Colorado, but nothing earth-shattering there.

FWIW -- The Marlins were in the top-10 in runs scored per game coming into last night's contest are now a little higher.

I get that. Dave Clum predicted the Marlins are for real this year. I need more convincing. For all MLB managers, here is a tip...for free...walk Stanton. It is amazing to me that he only has 12 BB (6 IBB) so far this year.
