Will anyone else admit to being happy when a player you don't have a lot of exposure to goes down for a lengthy period of time? How horrible is that or is it justified?

I can honestly say I've never felt happy when a player gets hurt.
Baseball watching-wise, I feel cheated when watching the Indians and not being able to see a guy like Jason Kipnis.
Fantasy-wise, we are only in the accumulation stage of our seasons. We have no idea who our closest competition will be in September.
Worse, we don't know if WE will be in the running

At this stage, we may think that a Kipnis-like injury helps us no matter what, as long as he is not on our team. In September, we may be pulling for another team to pass our competition in sb's and/or hr's and discover that the team we're rooting for had Kipnis and probably would have easily passed him if it weren't for the injury that we were 'happy' about.
Truth is, we think every injury, not associated with our team helps us.
It's not always the case.

I don't like seeing injuries. I love when stars I don't own underperform, though. Makes my own stiffs a bit more tolerable.

The only time I actually celebrated the injury of a player was Brady. And it was simply because the biggest trash talking a-hole in my home league had him. I didn't particularly like the fact that a human being was hurt, just that his only chance for winning (very QB heavy scoring system) was gone.

This year I just had a sense of relief that it was Harper (who I have little exposure to) and not one of the guys I targeted in every league.

Oddly enough I was supposed to trade for Harper last week in a different format but wanted to see Minor start one game as he was also part of the trade. Dodged a bullet.

Playing fantasy is about winning, so if it helps me win, I'm glad it happened. I don't wish injury on a player, but if I guy that I don't have is out an extended period of time, I know it helps.

My opinion:
It's bad karma to hope for players on your opponents' rosters to get hurt.
There are a number of players I refuse to draft since they always go much higher that where I value them. When those players get hurt, I'm never happy about the injury but I do tend to feel good that I was right to avoid them.

Bad karma or not Fernandez going down was a big help to me and an extended leave of absence from Cliff Lee and Carlos Beltran would be much appreciated. I got reamed over with injuries in April...so far all the devastation has dodged me in May and hopefully will continue.

Right after you posted how your players are free from injury, Tulo got HBP in the calf.

So far he's staying in but if you jinxed him, there's gonna be to pay.

Unfortunately I don't have Tulo in a single league. My biggest liability would be Cueto going down because I own him in the vast majority of my leagues. If there is a jinx, which I don't believe in, he will go down.

Not hoping any player gets hurt, but it does make for an interesting season. Especially if most of your players stay healthy.
