All these are good suggestions. Lower the prize, change the time, whatever. All I know is that it is fun, and I haven't even come close to winning. I just hope that this continues so that could change.

I have had a little luck (and more fun) in satellite leagues over on Fan Duel. Thats where you enter to win an entry for a larger, bigger tournament. Might work here too. The concept would be if you win or place in a weekly (biweekly?) satellite league that you would get into a monster NFBC-only Fan Duel league contest at the end of August with the prizes based on the total season's entrance fees.

I hate to admit this but I have come to the realization that I am really, really, really bad at the daily game. Last time out I finished 72nd out of 72 teams. Played 4 times. Best finish was 15th and felt I was lucky to get that high. The other two times.... 66th and 48th. Invested $100 and had fun doing so. But I am not likely to play the next few weeks. Maybe more guys feel the same which might be why we only had 49 teams. Time will tell. Instead of changing the date, it might be time to make it biweekly. Just my honest feelings/opinion. Pete
OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

Maybe too late now but something to try to get better is play the $1 contests where you can play a variety of lineups and see what strategy seems to get the most points each time. There's limited entries into the $1 big tourney but you can play 50/50's or double ups or better yet find someone else in the NFBC that wants to learn and challenge them to a head to head game. Chances are this way each of you win about half the games so all you lose is the rake while learning to get better.

Played for the first time this week, finished (I think) 5th.

Very cool idea, can't imagine why it isn't selling out every week. I'll definitely be back.

I guess Friday is the default for most who are playing
Sunday is definitely OUT but I am surprised that some have not suggested Saturday - another day when all teams are in play and players could set their lineup on Friday or Saturday morning and then just do other things and check in later.
There might even be a way to enter later in the day if the contest was not already filled - those entries obviously could only use players in the games yet to start.

BUT IMO the biggest reason these are not selling out is the huge delay in getting the NFBC contest set up - surprising since FanDuel has other contest that "go live" for entries with more lead time.

Of course for some of us in certain states the fixes are moot but I hate to see this special game for NFBC not succeed more

The URL was live on Thursday afternoon of this week as you remember and that didn't help at all. I think we'll take a break this Friday as the math doesn't work out with only 49 entrants. If there's enough interest for a return next Friday we'll give it one more go. I really like the concept and I'm happy that so many NFBC veterans have earned their entries into next year's Main Event already, but again the math has to work out to continue it. Let's take a break this week and see if we can come up with a plan to make this work in future weeks. Thanks all.

True Greg ... BUT how many knew about it? They aren't used to having it available early which is why there were only ten teams signed up on Thursday .... send an email when the link is up .... good notification plus you might get some new players

I agree with trying to have the contest on a Saturday rather then Friday. A lot of people have to work late on Friday and don't have time to mess around with their roster(s).

There's usually a later contest on Saturday not including the early games which helps those on the left coast.

We've learned that Friday isn't a great day for many players and while several posters don't like the Sunday suggestion, there could still be 70+ people who are willing to play Sunday so long as they are given the link early enough on Saturday.

We can't know what the response would be until it's offered at least once. You'd think since so many of you guys play NFFC it wouldn't be that unusual to set your final lineup early on a Sunday. It's one league not dozens.

See what happens.

In my opinion, Tuesday and Friday are the best days for lineup purposes. Unlike other sites, you can not change your Fanduel lineup after the first game tips off and the lineups for those later games on Sunday are not always available in time.

My one thought is that we filled up the first two contests almost overnight and then the churn rate for a winner-take-all contest kicked in. Maybe doing this less regularly will help better than changing the day of the contest, although I'm more than willing to try another day. It's just that if we're going to ask Fanduel to keep this as a private league then we really need to sell them out to stay that way.

Maybe a $10 entry for a $350 Online Championship entry would be a different option this week with only 42 teams needed. I don't know, just trying to keep it going while offering different options each week. Thoughts?

Just an idea... offer a $10 contest for a chance to win a Main Event entry. Run the $10 entry for five contests with the winner of each contest receiving a golden ticket to be in a five-player-only private league final. Winner of the five player league wins a main event entry for potentially $10 and the entries for all five contests should cover the cost of an entry. If you get more than the cost of the entry, throw in a smaller entry (OC or satellite) for second place or free entries into future contests.

I would go for that. Max two entries as before or were you considering something else?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Correct. Max two entries.

John makes a good point that we could get creative with unique offerings as well to keep things interesting and exciting each week, as long as we can get Fanduel to set these up that way for us. Remember, we are dependent on them to create these games for us on their site, so I'm not sure if a contest like that is possible. But I like the concept. It's a good idea and I thank you for thinking outside the box.

Maybe we'll do the $10 contest this week and I'll reach out to Fanduel for more info on something more elaborate starting next week. Thanks for the good ideas.

I've played every week except one and that was because we had family in town to watch my niece graduate magna cum laude from Colorado State. Yay Kimi! :D

I think 17th has been my highest finish so far, but I'll keep participating as long as contests are offered.

Is it such a bad thing if FanDuel fills out the desired 72 for any given contest with non-NFBC players?

Maybe we can begin the contest on Thursday morning only for NFBC players and then open it up to anybody if it doesn't fill by noon on Friday.

I also think Saturday might be a viable option, too. Sunday is out of the question because of rest days.

Do something this week, even $10, we don't want to lose players that have been regulars by taking a break in the action. Can the prize value be based on the number of entries? If we had 49 entries again the winner would get $1225 towards a main event team or something along those lines. I like the suggestion of a $100 second place as incentive if the league fills up (even $100 credit to NFBC or Fan Duel). Not a fan of Sundays as many players get a day off, Friday's best in my opinion but would honestly do any day as long as the link was up early enough. Another good suggestion was to email everyone, post on the social media pages, league pages and message boards also, the reminders help.

I like that idea.

How about a satellite for $5 or $2 with the number of entries determining the number of $25 tickets given out for the next NFBC Main Event prize at FanDuel?

$5 could lead to $125,000

It's not legal to run contests like that where the prize is based on the number of entries. The prize and the number of entries have to be guaranteed in advance. Sorry.
