Win A 2015 Online Championship Entry Friday Night

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Jun 05, 2014 8:36 am

We will scale down our NFBC/Fanduel Friday Night Special this week with a $10 entry and a winner-take-all contest for a 2015 entry into the NFBC Online Championship. This is a $350 value and this year our grand prize is $75,000. Spots will be very limited as I think we'll have just 42 teams. Here is the link for this week:

https://www.fanduel.com/e/Game/MLB_Sala ... nvite=true

This is a way to keep the weekly contests going and to mix up the offerings from time to time. Thanks all and good luck.

Here are the winners of our 2015 Main Event entries so far:
1. Bryan Sannito
2. Todd Zola
3. Jonathan Kent
4. Anthony Palavis/Eric Burd
5. David Anthony
6. Michael Leone
7. David Tiberio

Great idea Greg - not only does this keep the contest alive but it tests if the problem is the price point.

Price point ? There are people here shelling out $20K for one league.

I suspect many who compete in the NFBC do not visit message board and do not know contest even exists.

Greg, could you explain the rationale behind this remaining a private NFBC contest anyways? Wouldn't the exposure to the masses on Fanduel be a good thing for NFBC ? The Main Event sorely needs new blood, not just same 185 guys w/ multiple teams.

I like my chances of winning a contest when it's just 72 of my fellow NFBC'ers. However you can't deny the potential for new customers if a contest like this were offered to all of FD. Can you imagine doubling the # of Main Event entries

You'd hafta adjust the prize $
Always be closing.

I don't think the daily masses are attracted to winning an entry to a season long contest. It's why they play daily. Daily players know season long contests such as the NFBC exist, but are more attracted to the daily game for reasons we all know.

In addition, I don't necessarily see an issue with the "blood" we have. The contests sell out and so long as the prizes remain, you still have to beat the same amount of spots regardless of who fills them.

I do agree that the price point shouldn't be of issue seeing that the NFBC is a high stakes format.

I disagree -- dropping $25 a week adds up. Those that played 4 times are now paying the equivalent of $1700 for a ME entry. How many times will someone be willing to lose $25?

You could drop more than $500 if you play every week and never win.

64 times. For those who intend to buy a ME team anyhow, all you have to do is win once in 63 entries for it to come at a discount. After that, then 64 more times simply because there's no looking back at that point. 8-)

We have posted information about the contest in most of our newsletters since it began and have sent out specific newsletters about the contest on certain Fridays. So we are doing more than just posting here on the boards to let people know. That's why you should always check out the newsletters. Lots of good info there. :)

I would be a huge fan of seeing these offered Saturday and or Sunday. I try to play but I work 2nd shift so makes it hard to justify the price when I can't keep up on lineups. And when I win this event Friday night would I be allowed to put that $350 towards nffc event's? I believe that would be another shot to draw more interest to these fan duel event's.

We have 11 of 40 spots filled now for tonight's contest at $10 each. Let's fill this up and get someone a $350 Online Championship entry for 2015.

We have asked these contests to be promoted specifically to NFBC owners for two reasons: 1) We felt it would be a great weekly gathering for a top prize to our participants, a Main Event entry; and 2) Like John said here, that winner-take-all prize isn't as desired to the Fanduel community. But I'm sure some regular customers there who know about the NFBC are finding this contest and competing. The last two weekly winners have been Fanduel participants with little exposure to the NFBC, so we're glad to have them on board for 2015.

Good luck tonight all. $10 to win $350 with only 40 teams is a pretty good Friday Night contest. Enjoy.

Sign up for Fan Duel's $50 promo to get $100 off your NFFC team of choice and effectively you get $50 free to play with on Fan Duel. Sweet.
OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

I don't like Fan Duel's scoring. I've had good experience with Draft Kings. I'm not a huge DFS player. Are there any other sites anyone that plays regularly would recommend?

I will play next week for sure. If you play fantasy football with the NFFC they are running a promo. Deposit $50 in Fan Duel and get $100 off your NFFC team of choice. No brainer if you do football. Play the $50 you deposit here at $10 a week for 5 weeks and still save $100 on your football team. Sweet! - Pete

Sorry, but we are going to pass this week on the Fanduel contest. We haven't filled the last two and we need to do something creative to get folks excited again about a weekly NFBC contest. Yes, we could open it up to all Fanduel members, but I like the current format if possible.

I'm going to meet with Geoff from Fanduel next week in San Francisco to discuss a lot of things, including this. We'll see if we can restart this next week and get some more excitement going. Sorry for the late notice this week.
