I just sent this note out via e-mail to all 2006 NFBC owners, but I'll post it here as well for all potential newcomers:
First of all, I want to wish everyone good luck during this final weekend of the NFBC season. We have 10 of the main events still decided by two points or less and several satellite leagues that are just as close. These final three days of action -- maybe four days if there's a Monday tie-breaker game -- will determine many league champions.
Secondly, I'd like to thank all of our great NFBC owners for a great, great season. We've come a long way in three short seasons and the NFBC is now unquestionably the elite high-stakes fantasy baseball game in the industry with the toughest competitors in the land. When you've won a title in our event, you've really accomplished something. Congratulations to everyone who wins a league title in 2006.
We have set the parameters for the 2007 event and will begin taking signups online on Monday morning. Cost is the same at $1,250 for the main event, $1,250 and $650 for auction leagues, and $5,000 for the Ultimate Leagues. We've also set up the schedule for the NFBC Satellite Leagues, which will start on Feb. 20th and continue the week before Opening Day. We are basing the prize pool for the main event on 360 teams -- up from 330 this year -- with a little wiggle room in the rules to go above that. With the extra projected revenue from 30 more teams, we've increased the second through 10th overall prizes (second place overall would be $20,000 in 2007). If somehow we do go above 360, we will use a percentage of the added revenue to increase the top grand prize as that needs to increase once we start approaching 400 teams. We increased league prizes last year, so that progression to the grand prize makes sense.
If you know you're coming back to the NFBC in 2007 and want me to take care of your signup, just e-mail me the details along with payment plans (credit card number or the cc we have on file) and I'll take care of everything. You can do that at [email protected]. Once you've already competed in our event, it's very easy to sign you back up for 2007. I'll gladly do the dirty work for you if you ask!!!
We will again host the NFBC in four locations this year on the weekend of March 16-18. Host sites include:
Flamingo Las Vegas
Javits Center, New York
Donald E.Stephens Convention Center, Chicago
Tampa Convention Center
Auctions will be held on Friday, March 16, the main event on Saturday, March 17 and the Ultimate Leagues on Sunday, March 18. We have special room rates at the Flamingo ($159 Tuesday-Thursday, $219 Friday-Saturday) by using code SFFWP7. All of this will be listed on the web site on Monday.
Remember that you can sign up now and we won't hit your credit card until Feb. 15, 2007. The auction leagues and the Ultimate Leagues in Las Vegas could fill up quickly this year, so don't be afraid to jump in early if you know you want to do those events. We have plenty of space in each city, so expanding beyond the number of leagues we did last year shouldn't be a problem. But don't wait until the last second this year as we should have a record year in 2007.
As for 2007 rule changes, there are only a few:
1) Minimum innings pitched for all leagues will move from 400 to 600.
2) The Friday DL rule will remain in effect, with DL'ed players locked in each week by 12:01 a.m. on Friday. The NFBC will work with STATS to officially list DL players during the regular season and will be able to manually put players on that list during September when MLB teams don't use an official DL list.
3) All players are eligible to be selected on Draft Day; there will not be 40-man rosters used in 2007.
KDS will again be used for all NFBC main event leagues and satellite leagues, giving owners some say in their draft spots for 2007. If Ultimate League owners unanimously agree to use BBDS instead of KDS, I will implement that, but it must be unanimous. Also for the Ultimate Auction Leagues this year, we will take signups for Las Vegas only this year unless there is enough interest to fill up a full league in one of the other cities.
Also remember that if you are in line to receive prize money from the NFBC to send your W-9 form to us ASAP. Either mail in the form we sent to you three weeks ago or fax it to my attention at 715-445-4087. We are prepared to cut all checks on Monday from owners who have their W-9s sent to us (we need your social security number and signature).
That should do it for now. Again, thanks to everyone for a great, great 2006 NFBC season. We hope you enjoyed the competition and next week we will be distributing over $600,000 in prize money. Best of luck this weekend. Then on Monday, join us online by signing up for the 2007 competition and reserving one of the spots for next year's competition. See ya in 2007!!!
Thanks For A Great 2006 Season!

I don't have a specific date or dollar-amount league set up for BBDS at this point, so once the Message Boards start to pick up again we'll figure that out and add it. That's easy.
