Donn Johnson Wins Debut NFBC Platinum League

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Sep 29, 2014 8:13 am

The tag team of Donn Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia and Gino Yu won the debut NFBC Platinum League and the $200,000 first place prize. This is the biggest prize we've ever presented during our 11 years of baseball and football, so congrats guys. It was a wire-to-wire run as they jumped into the lead in April and for the most part held onto the lead throughout the year. Congrats guys.

Finishing second and winning $60,000 was Ken Norred, our 2013 NFBC overall champion. Kenny worked this team throughout the year after a rough, rough start and didn't get into second place until the final day. David DiDonato, our 2006 overall champion and a two-time Ultimate League champion, finished third to win $25,000.

This was a fantastic debut season and we hope to fill up the Platinum League again next season. It was incredible competition with an incredible group of owners. Here were the final standings:

Congrats to Donn and Gino! Great job pulling ahead of the pack and taking 1st place. Also good job by Ken/Dan and David to secure those 2nd and 3rd place spots.

Tremendous job managing down the stretch. Found the key pitchers to get the strikeouts you needed. Never seen such a dominant stretch of pitching. It literally was demoralizing. Tremendous job holding it together through the turmoil you endured. Very few could have found a way to hold it together. Well done guys.

Congrats Donn!

I'll be honest, I was talking to Kenny about the miracles we needed on the last Sunday to creep up 4 more points (1 more HR, your BA to fall, one more win from the 2 guys who also ended with 84 wins)...never saw the miracle but every dang at bat the last day made my pucker factor increase.

This was a hoot...what an amazing array of the best of the best.
