Insurance payment for injured players

Post by mlbbug » Fri Oct 10, 2014 4:02 pm

How can I find out the number of days spent on the DL for a specific player in 2014? Unfortunately for my team, I bought Bryce Harper at auction this year. He played in exactly 100 games which contributed to my team's fade in 2nd half of the year. I am thinking that it would be very close as to whether or not he spent 60 days on the DL this year. If he did, when can we expect payment from the insurance company for injured players?

I've emailed Henry at Fantasy Sports Insurance to get a list of players who spent 60 or more days on the DL. This takes a little time to compile and approve on his part. I'll post the list as soon as I get them from him. Payments usually take a little longer from an insurance company as these checks come directly from FSI. Usually 8 weeks or so after the season you'll see payments. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply Greg. Sure wish that I didn't even have to ask this question since it usually means my team finishes out of the money, as it faded badly 2nd half this year. Of course, Harper was not only reason; Shin-soo Choo did his imitation of the Invisible Man all year long too.

Here is the early list of players that Fantasy Sports Insurance sent to me today. These players spent 60 or more days on the Disabled List. Let me know if we're missing anyone:

Troy Tulowitzki
Ryan Zimmerman
Prince Fielder
Matt Cain
Jose Fernandez
Joey Votto
Cliff Lee
Carlos Gonzalez
Bryce Harper
Anibal Sanchez

Is it good when 3 out of 4 years you cash insurance?
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

Okay, here's the final list of players who "earned" insurance payouts because they were on the DL for 60+ days. Carlos Beltran actually played in 109 games and did not qualify for insurance, and Josh Hamilton also fell just short as he was available in September to play and not on the DL. So here is the final list of players from Fantasy Sports Insurance:

Troy Tulowitzki
Ryan Zimmerman
Prince Fielder
Matt Cain
Jose Fernandez
Joey Votto
Cliff Lee
Carlos Gonzalez
Bryce Harper
Anibal Sanchez

FSI will handle all of the payments, so over the next month look for a check directly from them. Thanks all for paying via check or money order and sorry that your top picks didn't stay healthy in 2014.

I just heard from Henry at Fantasy Sports Insurance and these checks should go out by the end of this week. Sorry for the delay, but insurance companies don't approve things as quickly as fantasy game operators!! But look for checks soon and let's hope for better health this season.

Oh, and there again was $10,000+ in insurance checks going to NFBC owners this year and more in payouts than we paid for the insurance. That's the second straight year that has happened. Not good for FSI, but good for the NFBC owners who suffered some tough losses this year.
